Thanks for calculating these. Cutler was the only OPIHI who garnered a roster bonus. And today there's word that his #1 WR (Walker) will most likely be traded in the offseason. Ugh.

And this is even with him missing 4 weeks w/ a broken foot! If he'd have been healthy to play those first 4 games, he probably would have ended up around #7. Heck, I'm just glad he overtook Vernon Davis in Week 17 and saved me some money down the road (Scheffler's got just 1 year left, Davis has 3 more). |

Waiver Wire pickups aren't elligible for roster bonuses. Only those rookies who still are under their drafted contracts, I believe. Are you sure you got him on waivers?

Yep, most definitely. Ragers cut him very early this season and I nabbed him:
http://www.predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11229 I just went through the rules page and couldn't find any wording either way on rookie bonuses for waived players. I'd be quite happy if he didn't get one ![]() Isn't he still under his drafted contract because I claimed him? It seems to me that the only way a waived rookie player would be no longer under his drafted contract is if he clears waivers and thus gets a new contract. I can clarify and confirm that yes indeed, rookie bonuses count the entire life of a rookies inaugural contract, including if they are claimed on waivers. Once the player is cut, and clears waivers, or has his contract years expire, his rookie contract is terminated. Then (and only then), are they are no longer subject to the rookie bonus scale on their next contracts.

Sorry... that's what I was thinking. I forgot about claiming off of waivers. I was thinking once a player is cut from the original drafting team... and then gets signed to a NEW contract, then no bonuses apply. Thanks for clarity, Mike.

The fact that the Freedom have sucked over the years is finally paying off (6 of the 25 players, including 5 WR's earned bonuses):
Reggie Bush, 1.01, #21RB, 150 bonus, 975 salary Braylon Edwards, 1.05, #3WR, 450 bonus, 1028 salary Brandon Marshall, 3.01, #9WR, 175 bonus, 332 salary Roddy White, 2.05, #14WR, 225 bonus, 568 salary Greg Jennings, 2.01, #16WR, 188 bonus, 521 salary Lee Evans, 1.11, #32WR, 100 bonus, 882 salary Also, can you confirm that these will be the 2008 salaries (including the normal 10% increase)? Thanks! |
