You are correct. So think about it this way.
It specifically states WHEN the 150/5% is applied... only with 1 year deal and acquired via trade. Just like how you understood it.
It does not state what happens when a player 2+ is traded... but it DOES STATE a general rule of 300/10% when you hold the right to the player. So when you trade for a player with 2+ years... you hold his rights and can wait until the off-season to reneg but for 300/10%. No where does it say a multi-year player get 150/5%.
Ask Mike or Brian... pretty sure they can back me up on this.
