However, I don't get how adding more playoff spots will DECREASE competitiveness. It will only increase competitiveness. Most teams have a shot at playoffs. The top teams will fight to get a bye week (only goes to #1 or 2 seed). The 3 bad teams can trade their players to the stud teams or teams figting for playoffs in exchange for draft picks or young players to help rebuild. The cyle repeats.... every year.
