I know this may be a way out there suggestion but rather than a double header why not just have one game (not a divisional match-up) decided at the end of the year based on the teams average score from the prior 13 weeks. This would be one head to head game and it would take the fear over having one really bad week (and losing two games) out of the equation. Might be something to consider.
