I would have no problem with this, until I read this latest article.:
BRANCHING OUT
When Panthers safety
Colin Branch tore his anterior cruciate ligament Saturday night against the Giants, it created a ripple effect in Carolina's defense.
At Monday's practice, the Panthers moved first-round pick Thomas Davis from linebacker to the safety position that Branch vacated. Davis has bounced around from safety, to linebacker, and now back to safety, where the Panthers are hoping he can finally settle in and become the impact defensive player most people expect him to be.
At the linebacker position that Davis is vacating, the Panthers are expecting veteran
Brandon Short, who worked with Carolina coach John Fox in New York, to be sufficiently recovered from his foot injury to start the Sept. 11 opener against the New Orleans Saints.
But now that the Panthers have lost Branch, an underrated player who started 14 games last season and intercepted three passes, look for other teams to try to force Carolina's safeties into pass coverage. The big question that followed Davis out of Georgia and to Carolina is whether he can excel in that area.
