The Hudson Valley Vagrants seem to be continuing their cap purge. The Vagrants traded Top 5 WR (based on 2001 stats) David Boston ($1,337 cb's for 3 years) and the Brian Griese ($983 cb's for 2 years) to the Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers. In return the Vagrants got last years second best RB Priest Holmes ($462 cb's for 1 year), and Brett Favre ($644 cb's for 2 years).

This move clears about $1,214 for the Vagrants and gives them a solid option at RB in Holmes. Farve and Griese, if both are healthy for a full season, should be able to be capable starters for the 2002 season and Farve’s low salary should help the Vagrants to have money to rebuild the roster that they inherited. However, this trade may be best remembered for the fact that David Boston was involved. The electrifying WR who averaged almost 100 yards a game receiving in 2001 will likely be teamed with Freddie Mitchell. This allows the Chaser’s the option to pass on resigning either Troy Brown or Randy Moss. The Chasers can focus their efforts on the resigning of Anthony Thomas.

Overall, this was a trade that allowed both teams to deal depth to strengthen positions were they were not as strong. It is worth noting that the Vagrants still have Isaac Bruce on the chopping block and would like to move him before Sunday's deadline, due to his contract given by the previous ownership.
