Playoff Recap
Playoffs Recap.
Eastern Division Champions and defending Champions Parkwood Predators (9-5) hosts the Western Division Champions Nittany Dodgers (8-6):
The Dodgers gave a valiant effort this season. Not only did they reach their pre-season goals (getting to the playoffs), they gave the Predators a run for their money. Delhomme, Barber and Burleson all scored in the 20s. He was let down by the specialty positions (including Gonzalez in a shoot-out with Denver). Dodgers should be able to hold their heads high and look forward to tweaking the team just a touch to make it to the playoffs again next year.
The Predators had been laying wait for the Dodgers with their secret weapon, Billy Volek! 51.95 points!!! And who until just a little bit ago was available on the waiver wire. Did the Predators do it again and snag a potential star-in-the-making out from everyone’s noses?? I don’t know, but he should played big this week. Question is, will he perform in the Super Bowl next week. Pittman and Walker both scored in the 20’s and LT2 topped the 30 range. Andre Johnson was the lone ‘disappointment’ this week, but with everyone else’s scores, no one really noticed.
Previous Meeting this Year: Predators 139.95 to Dodgers 111.50
Prediction: Predators make it to the Big Dance to defend their title stopping Dodgers winning streak at five.
Actual Score: Parkwood Predators 170.25 to Nittany Dodgers 123.15
** Nice potential points for Predators (breaking 200 barrier – 207.35). This gotta be a record!
MidWest Division Champion Liquid Swords (10-4) hosts division rival and Wild Card Wonder Mutts (10-4):
The Liquid Swords tore into the playoffs, but hit a few snags this week. Only problem is, it REALLY counted this week. Losing McGahee to an injury (6.35 points) really hurt, when he had been putting up nearly 20 a week. NE DT also let him down in not dominating a weaker Miami team. Culpepper DID step up and nearly 40 points. Kevin Jones also showed his value for next year as he puts up 23.15 points. Horn and Smith both were in the teens.
Some how the Wonder Mutts decided to score more than 128 points (like they did in last two meetings this season). Favre was close to an amazing game (but some how thought turning the ball over four times would help the team). Davis and Dillon kept the RB corp revving with 25.95 & 31.7 points respectfully. The WRs, however, need to pick it up next week to be able to win. Losing TO for the Super Bowl is going to hurt. Antonio gates only needed one catch to get 13.7 points…not too shabby.
Previous Meeting this Year: Week 11 – Liquid Swords 111.35 to Wonder Mutts 128.6
Week 13 – Liquid Swords 155.7 to Wonder Mutts 128.3
Prediction: Strange thing is, in the two previous meeting this year, Wonder Mutts had a scoring variation of .3 – wow! Each team has some bad match-ups and some good ones. I think, once again this will be a close game. We all know, it’s tough to beat the same team three times in one season. However, I see the Swords looking to continue their season and head to the Super Bowl in a down-and-ugly game against the Mutts.
Actual Score: Wonder Mutts 132.8 to Liquid Swords 120.75
Next week…SUPER BOWL. Wonder Mutts look to end the Parkwood Predator’s dominance in the Super Bowl. Predators plan on receiving the tag…Dynasty. We’ll see who succeeds.
