Sam's Look at Week 13
Nittany Dodgers vs. Urza’s Ragers: This is the game of the week, and the game of the season for the Nittany Dodgers. If the Dodgers win, they will move into a tie for first, with tie breaking edges, should they remain tied after week 14. If the Ragers win, they clinch the division, and the Dodgers post season hopes will be extinguished. The Ragers dominate the head to head series 5-2, averaging 10 points per game more than the Dodgers (107.5 to 97.5). The Dodgers won the last meeting, just two weeks ago. Edge: Dodgers.
Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers vs. Bay Area Bloodsucking Insects: This is a game of draft position jockeying. At 4-8, both teams are looking towards next season, though with a Dodger victory, each will be able to play spoiler in week 14.. The Squirrel Chasers lead the series 4-3, winning the week 11 matchup after losing the previous 3 meetings. The Squirrel Chasers average over 10 points per game more than the Insects in the series. Edge: Chasers.
Wonder Mutts vs. Liquid Swords: The Swords must win to keep any divisional title hopes alive. A loss won’t kill them as they at worst will still be tied for the Wild Card. A win for the Mutts means a divisional clinch. The Liquid Swords dominate this series 5-2, averaging 126.6 points to the Mutts 105.5. The Mutts won the week 11 matchup after losing the previous 3. Edge: Swords.
Jersey Toxic Waste vs. Soap Box Derby Cars: This is another game with draft pick rank implications. The Derby Cars are currently sitting with the #1 pick, but a win will drop them out of the top spot. The Waste lead this series 4-3, winning 3 of the last 4 matchups. The Waste average 109.4 in the series games to 99.9 for the Cars. Edge: Waste.
Parkwood Predators vs. Philadelphia Freedom: The Freedom have been eliminated from post season contention, but look to play spoiler, as they try to prevent the Predators from clinching the division on their home turf. The Predators are trying to stay in front of the red hot Opihi. A win won’t clinch (unless the Opihi lose), but will go a long way to solidify their post season position. The Freedom have yet to defeat the Predators in any of their 7 meetings. The Predators have been playing out of their mind against the Freedom, scoring over 140 points in each of the last four games. Meanwhile, the Freedom have broken 100 points only once in those four meetings. All of this adds up to the Predators outscoring the Freedom by a whopping 198.95 points in their 7 match ups. Big Edge: Predators.
Indiana Undead vs Royal Hawaiian Opihi: The Undead technically are still alive at this point, but need a lot of assistance. Defeated the Opihi, and the Mutts defeating the Swords is what is needed this week. The Opihi, on the other hand, are trying to steal the Division away from the front running Predators. A win by the Opihi will set the stage for a week 14 showdown with the Predators, with the Eastern Title on the line. The Opihi dominate this series, leading 6-1, and winning the last four. The Opihi average 133.6 points, and have scored over 138 points in each of the last 5 games against the Undead. The Undead average 113.4 points against the Opihi, and their only win came when they scored 164.45 points. Another monster game very well could be needed this week to prevail. Big Edge: Opihi.
