Week two is in the books, folks and things are starting to take form in the Feeding Frenzy League This is Tank D’Season with the Tuesday morning wrap-up of this weekend’s games.

It appears Philadelphia Freedom were suffering from some jet-lag due to the long flight to face Royal Hawaiian Opihi. Freedom was pleasantly surprised that Curtis Martin was not a one-week wonder and scored in the 30’s for the second week in a row. However, they took a huge hit by losing McAllister for 5-6 weeks. Isaac Bruce also produced solid numbers for the second week in a row, while his fellow WR combined for a whopping .45 points. LJ Smith pulled in a TD on MNF to produce once more. They really need some of their starters to realize this is no longer pre-season and play to win. Opihi, on the other side of the field enjoyed their first victory, taking them to 1-1 on the season. Seven of nine players scored in the double digits, including their kicker. Bulger-Holt combination looks to be still in sync, while Derrick Mason also stepped up. I take back my previous comments, Ashley Lelie is doing fair with another average outing. He still has yet to show me he’s a true #1 WR in the NFL. By having an all around solid performance, Opihi proved me wrong.

Prediction: Freedom pulls out a close one.

** Actual: Opihi 126.70 to Freedom 89.90

Soap Box Derby Cars hosted the Liquid Swords this week. Cars had a solid MNF showing by Brian Westbrook (18.30 points), but it wasn’t enough to overtake the Swords. The Cars only other double digit scorers were Manning (as expected) and their K & DT – which is not a good showing for the main point scorers. Depth seemed to bite the Cars as they didn’t really have any bench personnel to activate and help the team this week (starting James Jackson of Cleveland??). The loss of Stephen Davis is going to haunt the Cars until they find a suitable backup. The Swords, however, are proudly atop the scoring leader board. Daunte’s second solid week bodes well for the Swords. Seven of their nine starters were in the double digits as well (we won’t talk about Pinkston’s goose-egg). McMichael looks to be the main target for the Miami QB (whichever it might be) and Ahman Green once again had a solid outing (Swords were looking for a TD instead of a fumble by Green though, that seemed to break his spirit – Ahman didn’t run well the rest of the day).

Prediction: I see Swords putting a hurt on the Cars, dropping them to 0-2.

** Actual: Swords 123.70 – Cars 101.40

The Wonder Mutts were visiting the Jersey Toxic Waste this weekend. Mutts had three players in the 20’s this week (Favre, D Davis, Dillon). Dillon and Davis have to be smiling at those out puts, however I don’t see them continuing on that pace. Side note, it must be nice to have to had benched Chris Brown and Quentin Griffin… TO fell back to earth, but still had a solid game with a long TD pass (that actually didn’t happen, but we won’t tell anyone). The other WR were a serious let down this week. JTW had two 30 point scorers (McNabb and James). But it may be costly as James went out with a minor injury and may miss the next game. Gordon was fair against Cincinnati, but not good enough against a DT that let C-Mart run for nearly 200 yards the week before. St. Louis DT was a huge let-down. Only Terry Glenn scored in double digits. Waste has to be kicking himself that Reggie Wayne was on his bench (as well as Carney).

Prediction: I see the Wonder Mutts dropping their first loss of the season to the Waste

** Actual: Mutts 124.15 – Waste 113.80

BDSC (too long to write the whole thing out) took on the Nittany Dodgers this week. Chasers were let down by most of their starters (only four of nine in double digits). However Donte’ Stallworth came through with over 20 points. Moss’s TD with less than four minutes in the game helped Chasers keep ahead of Dodgers. Rich Gannon showed Chasers he still has some left in his tank (especially in weeks where Seattle has a road game). Dodgers suffered greatly with the loss of Deion Branch. They also had only four players in double digits, but only Pennington in the 20’s. The poor performance of Price, Branch and Pittsburgh DT really hut Dodgers this week.

Prediction: Dodgers will get revenge for last week and drop Chasers in week 2

** Actual: Chasers 91.80 – Dodgers 82.10

Urza’s Ragers stormed into the Bay Area against the Bloodsucking Insects. Michael Vick and Jamal Lewis woke up for the Ragers, while Roy Williams stepped up for the Lions (all scoring in double digits). Fred Taylor is still disappointing the Ragers, but at least the rest of the team stepped up to cover for his faultering. I was wondering why they sat Foster against a weak KC DT, and now I bet they are thankful they had a great week and not needing his performance (31.40 on the bench). Insects took a risk and paid the price by starting Shaun Alexander against the TB DT on the road. In addition, Jerry Porter has yet to show anything to the Raider-nation (let alone the Insects). Winslow had a tough break (sorry, I had to use this bad line) and came up short-now hurting his team for most likely the rest of the season. The Insects are looking for depth on their bench at RB to cover for Alexander. It’s unknown how he’ll perform.

Prediction: I see the Insects wrapping up their second victory of the season

** Actual: Ragers 136.45 – Insects 108.85

In a game of heated Rivalry, the Parkwood Predators faced off against the Indiana Undead. Chad Johnson was thankful that John Hall had a lower score than him (though being second lowest to a kicker is nothing to be proud of). However, the rest of the team came through with the second highest score of the week. Harrington’s three TD’s solidified him in the 20’s now that he found a new favorite WR. Thomas Jones showed up his team-mate Priest Holmes this week as well. Daniel Graham’s two TD week will be tough to cover in his bye week next week. The only problem for the Undead is that they played their rivals, the Preds – who had the high score for the week (and from what I’m told, made top 10 score of league history with a stunning 165.15). Aaron Brooks and Kevin Barlow both woke up to score 30+ points each. While Hines Ward and LT2 both were in the 20’s. In fact, the Preds scored this with a zero from their TE and 4 points from Kasay. However, switching TE’s wouldn’t have mattered because Boo Williams also scored a whopping zero).

Prediction: Parkwood actually shoots itself in the foot by having their DT go against a starting WR, losing this one to the Undead in the high scoring game of the week

** Actual score: Predators 165.15 – Undead 137.30 (at least I was right on high scoring game)

Talk about crashing down to reality. After going 4-2 in the first week, I think the owners were out to prove me wrong as I went 1-5. There are a lot of injuries mounting and with the start of the bye weeks, things are really going to start getting questionable in the line-ups. Who will guess right and who won’t. Till then, I’m Tank D’Season, reviewing film and watching the waiver wire.
