Re: Insects Fill Needs in Draft
Sorry Frank, you're trying to justify this trade but your reasoning is questionable. Whether you think you're 1st next year is going to be a late round pick or not, a 1st rounder is incredibly more valuable than a 2nd rounder because of the new RFA compensation packages. Just take a look at Mike's 1.12 vs Matt's 2.1. Look at the dropoff in value and that's comparing the last pick in the regular 1st round to the 1st pick in the 2nd round.
Also, Joey Harrington has been in the league for all of 2 years. I think he gets a bad rap in this "what have you done for me lately" league. Rookie QBs arent allowed to develope like before. They are expected to come in and light it up which is unfair in my opinion. Lets see how he does this year, his 3rd year, in which he has talent surrounding him before passing such harsh judgement.
If you truly believe that Perry is a future stud and that you wanted him all along then its a good trade for you. Personally, I think you gave up way too much and you underestimate the value of the future draft picks you traded away, especially with the new rookie salaries.
But only time will tell...........Good luck.(as a division rival I dont really mean that)
