Insects have taken on my strategy of years past by flooding the market with bids on many stud players at a time. The problem is, unlike in years past where the bids could open much lower, they've bid significant amounts on all 4 stud RB's.... numbers where I could see all 4 players potentially not get matched.
The Insects 5 opening bids total up to a cap breaking $11,500 cb's! Can you imagine the havoc they'll face if we all let our players slide, take the compensation, and force the Insects to release some of them as UFA's and take significant cap hits in the process! Considering the Insects are only 4300 cb's under the cap (5800 if they don't match their own RFA's) they could be looking at having to cut a minimum of 4800 cb's if they won and got each player they bid on, meaning they'd have to cut at least 2 of the big 4 RB's they bid on (likely 3), and in the process potentially looking at 1000+ cb's in cap penalties!
With the new system in play and the much larger opening bids I think the Insects have taken a SIGNIFICANT risk.
