I should have looked at this poll before I posted in the other thread. I'll say it here again though. I think the scale needs to be ticked up a bit. I think a 1st round compensatory pick should be a rare thing, not a commong thing (Mike, based on your numbers, we'd have 1 1st round compensatory pick each of the last two). I don't think it should be that common. I think it should be compensation in the rare circumstance that a team cannot match due to a player being bid out of a teams range. Not something where a team says "hey, I know i don't want this guy back, but if I tag him, then I'll get a pick out of it." I don't think it should work like that. I think the 1st rounder has to start at least at 2500.
