Actually, I think showing the records for winners and losers allows us to remember the quality of the oppenents each year.
We have had underdogs win the trophy 2 out of 3 years (I'd call this year a push), and I think showing the records of both teams helps to show that.
I mean, the Garbage Dogs (now Dodgers) were a quality team in 2001 (#2 seed at 10-4, having a 1st rd bye as well). The Insects came up from the ranks of the wildcards as the 5th seed I believe, with an 8-6 record, knocking off the top 2 teams in the process.
In 2002 we all know the cinderalla story of the 0-7 Toxic Waste who then ran off 7 straight to take their division at 7-7 on a tie breaker, and then turned that into a Bowl championship against my 11-3 Predators, it was a major upset.
The 1st two Bowls were major upsets, I think reflecting that on the trophy makes sense.
In 2003 we had another wildcard team take home the trophy... granted the bigger upset was my wildcard Predators knocking off the Squirrels, but the Opihi were a high quality opponent from a division with 3 very very good teams.
