See my post above yours. I don't think teams should be able to retract a demotion if a player is claimed.
I like the idea of a claimed player having to go to active roster by the claiming team, and if the claiming team subsequently cuts said player the original team gets right of first refusal on the player and can reclaim and then demote the player. That's essentially how the PS works for NFL teams.
