Cut WR Michael Robinson
Making room.

Re: Cut WR Michael Robinson
Can I claim M-Rob (as a RB). If so, can D. Howard be dropped and replaced by Robinson?
|
Re: Cut WR Michael Robinson
Well, technically, he did have contract years assigned, but it was only temporary. As much as I'd like to claim robinson myself, I don't think he qualifies. I don't know what others think though.

His contract years were invalid because Joe didn't have room to accomodate him on the TS. Thus as a draftee, he's released, never had years assigned and is a UFA. We can all start bidding on him for the active roster though lol. |
Re: Cut WR Michael Robinson
Well, technically, if Joe had been on the ball and realized he didn't have space... then others would have been able to claim him during the 24 hour window by the end of the original signing period. My opinion (and I'm sure everyone's waiting with baited breath to hear it) is that he be eligible for the TS squad, but for what he would have been if he had been correctly identified when the rest of the TS cuts were made... namely, one year at his draft price. Confused yet?

Re: Cut WR Michael Robinson
I was assuming that, similar to the Andrew Walter question we had last week... if a drafted player is cut and CLAIMED off of waivers, then they would still be TS elligible. However, they'd only have a 1 year max contract, since the original drafting team would have cut them without claiming any further contract years.
I understand Walter was a 2005 draftee... who had contract years... but the principle should still apply, right? Or am I totally off base here? |

Robinson never made it that far, and is like any other draftee that was released without being placed on the active, taxi, or practice rosters. Those players never receive a contract, even for 1 year, and thus are UFA's. |

So the only way to acquire the aforementioned TS/PS elligible players is to trade for them, eh? Okay. Glad to be straight on the issue now. |

We agreed that a rookie that never makes the roster (active/taxi or practice) never had a contract and thus wasn't waiver eligible and would be a UFA. |
Re: Cut WR Michael Robinson
Okay... good to know. Thanks.
