Preds & Squirrels deal
 

The Predators will be parting ways with 2005 3.01 draft pick Brandon Jacobs as well as QB Brian Griese. RB Adrian Peterson is rumored to be in the deal as well, but that isn't expected to be verified until later this evening.

In return, the cap strapped Preds are getting nothing more than the Squirrels 3rd rd pick in 2006.

After talking the situation over with Adrian Peterson last night, Predators GM Mike SantaLucia officially announced that he was part of the package sent to the Squirrells.

LOL, it's my choice to include or not include Peterson. I have to pull up my team info at home tonight to decide if I want the cap relief or not (I really like Peterson, and only want to part with him if I have no choice).

Actually, I misread the fine print... I thought you said the Preds will be getting "something more" than the Squirrels' 3rd pick in '06. It actually reads "nothing more." BIG DIFFERENCE. My bad. (No hard feelings, Mike?!?!) LOL

Just making it official that RB Adrian Peterson was included in the package sent to the Squirrels.

I wish I coulda kept him, but cap concerns (and huge contracts to select players) are forcing my hand to go with a lean and mean roster for the 2nd year in a row.

Wow. I guess I should have inquired to the asking price for certain players. Didn't know the Preds firesale was underway.

Wow that was a lot for a third round pick. I was considering offering a third rounder for Jacobs alone but was not sure I would be able to make room on the DS for him.
