Solid work. Looks pretty good to me and your logic was sound.

Just on a side note, is there some reason the bonuses in Frenzy jumped like that from 450 to 1400+ or whatever it was? Is there some kind of correllation with number of years the league was in existence, etc.?

More players get the bonuses as the years go by. We are now 4 or 5 years into our rookie drafts in the Frenzy, and some guys still under contract and producing from the drafts 4-5 years ago are cashing in bonuses until their rookie contracts are up.

BTW, the numbers look good to me. I'd suggest we correlate the scale for the WR's, TE's and QB's in the Frenzy as well.

That is correct on the first part.

As for the second part, I seem to remember proposing that last year only to be shot down by you, Mike. :idiot J/K, I put that together.

Looks great to me.

The 11-20-30-10 works for me.

I'm thinking if I put together a 12-24-36-12 for the Frenzy, I should for SAC'D as well.

With the RFA Tenders where they are for defensive players are we also going to change the rookie (draft) pay scale? If this was already done and I missed I apologize otherwise it looks like I can tender a DB for first rounder at $500. To draft a DB number 1 in the draft would cost $400. This seems to defeat the purpose of draft defense.

Just a thought.

Comparing things to the Frenzy, the rookie salaries are in the neighborhood of the 3rd round tender level (some higher, some lower). I would propose that we adjust the defensive rookie starting salaries to be wherever the 3rd round tender level is set at for the respective positions.

That makes sense to me. Thanks!

One last thought (question) is this retroactive to the draft that we did in 2005? Probably not a huge deal either way but I figured it can't hurt to ask (clairfy). Thanks!

OK, here's my final draft of my proposal reflecting a change to the "starters" at each position elligible for bonuses on their rookie contract.

As far as retroactivity, it doesn't matter to me. If it is easier to track for roster app purposes that is fine with me. If it makes no difference, then I'd prefer to leave as is since people probably drafted to some degree with salaries in mind.

Okay, I think I missed something here. I was talking about the salaries that are tied to rookie draft picks. For example, if someone where to pick a DB with the first pick of the draft this player would cost $400 under the system from last year. However, I can retain a player (offering a first round tender offer for $500). This means the top pick at DB is only 80% of the price for what in theory is a top flight proven free agent.

On the flip side a rookie RB would be $600 at pick 1.1 but it would cost $3,200 to tender a proven top flight RB. This seems to be a huge difference that really would disincent us from drafting defensive players (especially DL and DB's).

At first going with a third round tender offer made sense but I am not sure that it really helps that much. For example the DB, if taken at 1.1 is now $340. Better than $400 I am not sure that really balances the field enough.

BTW, I am fully aware that it is unlikely that a defensive player would ever be choosen in the top 10 but I think the current pay scale (or even the revised) pay scale all but guarantees it. Also, the revised pay scale mentioned above actaully raises the cost of a LB.

I apologize if this is not clear but I think it might be worth some further consideration. Thanks!

No, what you say makes sense. When I looked closer at it, it doesn't make as much sense to tie things to the RFA tender levels so closely. With the larger salary cap, more rounds to the draft, different sized rosters, etc etc, there are just to many differences than to just make the same blanket comparison.

Personally, I think the DBs rookie salary should be brought down to the same level of the DL rookie salaries. I know going into the season, those who knew IDP said DBs were more valuable. However, the average of the top 12 DL salaries was over 25cbs more than the top 12 DB salaries. The top DBs made more, but the salaries dropped rapidly. If people really think DBs should be paid more, then maybe we can balance that out by having the bonuses slightly higher for the DBs (I think I screwed that up by having the DL bonuses slightly higher on what I just posted).

So, is this the final document we should go on for RFA's and rookie bonuses? It seems to still be in discussion and we are nearing the RFA declaration time...

It seems like the WR tenders were going to be changed but I was not sure if that had been finalized. Have we decided on this yet?

For WRs, I think the tender levels should be

1st-2400
2nd-1800
3rd-1200
4th-900
5th-600
6th-288

I'm fine with those numbers.

We need to get some votes going with RFA Declarations less than 2 weks away!

I'll put together a final spreadsheet and a poll (for both leagues) today.
