Updated to reflect the pre-trade 2006 Draft Order

Note we had 3 teams tie at 7-7, with 2 from the same division in the West (BDSC and BABI), and the other from the Central (Jersey). None of them swept any of the others, and they played a disproportionate number of games against each other, so I reverted to total points as a tiebreaker.

My reasoning is this, BDSC was 2-1 against BABI and Jersey, but both his wins came against BABI and he lost to Jersey. BABI meanwhile was 1-2, but his win was against Jersey and both his losses were to BDSC. Finally, Jersey beat BDSC but lost to BABI. If I seeded this by record against each other, IMO it'd be unfair since Jersey only played the others once, and split between them. Had Jersey lost to both I would have felt better seeding him 5th and then narrowed it to a 2 team tiebreaker between BDSC and BABI, but it wasn't the case.

Instead of the formula above, I used a 3rd tiebreaker which was Total Points. Anyone agree or disagree with my thought process here?

Last year I believe I used the h2h formula in a 4 way tie at 5-9. but the wins and losses between the 2 Western Division teams were split if I recall correctly, and the other 2 came from the East and Central. Philly swept them, and BABI went 2-1, and the others 1--2 and 1-3.

I probably should have used Total Points there too after taking Philly out of the mix for sweeping the others and narrowing it down to 3.

For head to head tie breaking use winning percentage to overcome differences in the number of games played. Even if there are an odd number of games (ie one team has 3 games and another had 2) the winning percentage should seperate them. If somehow there is still a tie then use the points.

Re: 2006 Frenzy Rookie Draft Order

my 2cents

Jersey - won H2H w/BDSC (1-0), lost H2H w/Insects (0-1)
Insects - lost H2H w/BDSC (0-2), won H2H w/Jersey
BDSC - won H2H w/Insects (2-0), lost H2H w/Jersey (0-1)

since BDSC swept Insects in H2H the Insects should get a higher pick than BDSC. when you thow in Jersey, you create a loop on H2H thus going to a second tie-breaker of points b/n those 3 resulting in Jersey with the lowest point total. Thus I think their draft order would be in this order:

Jersey
Insects
BDSC

Compare H2H first between each team...not all 3 at once. Thus Insects should definitely have a higher draft pick than BDSC. Using H2H with Jersey vs Insects, Jersey should have the higher pick but with Jersey vs BDSC, BDSC should have the higher pick...this creates a loop since BDSC swept Insects, thus total points should be used resulting in Jersey receiving the highest pick of the 3 but since Insects were swept by BDSC, Insects get the higher pick between the two (Insects and BDSC).

Makes perfect sense to me but I probably just confused the hell outta all of ya.

Re: 2006 Frenzy Rookie Draft Order

Well, what I say doesn't matter since I've always thought I've based my leagues proceedures on NFL procedures, but I've been wrong, but anyway...

When you have three teams tied for a spot, and the first tie break is head to head, one team should have the tie break on all other teams, or else all teams proceed to the second tie breaker. If one team has not swept each and every other team, all teams then go to Divisional Record (if appropriate) or total points. Once one team does not beat all teams on Divsisional Record, all teams go to total points. Once the highest point total team is taken, every other team goes back to step #1 and you look at H2H records again.

That's what I think, anyway.

As a group, we need to figure out how to decide the tiebrakers for the draft order... more input is needed IMO.

When is the official start? I am guessing I can make my pick whenever and then SBDC would be on the clock so to speak.

Official start is Monday the 8th. I think last year we started prior to the official start, however, no one would be on the clock until the official start (ie, you (Matt) can make your pick at any time, but the clock wouldn't start for SBDC until the 8th).

Yup, no clock till Monday, if the guys at the top want to get started they are welcome to, but don't be angry if anyone wants to wait till Monday because they're not ready or want to look at some other drafts, etc.
