Trades
Ok. I would like to open discussion on trading 'option picks'
Try reading over all the trades, etc (especially Rami's trades with Preds and Skippy) and explain it to me in less than 50 words... Options trades are hard to understand. I recall asking Preds before I made trade with Gunslingers about if I even HAD a 5th rounder in 2006 to trade. He stated I did, so I offered the trade (I thought he was right too). Needless to say, after some digging, I found out I did not. I think we need to have more clear explanation and tracker (for options).:feedback |
Re: Trades
Sorry, Rami. I posted a similar thread in the trading section. Anyhow, here is the link and the text to try and keep it all together. For the record it took more than 50 words and quite a bit of time to try and make sense of it but I have my explanation below:
http://www.predsff.com/forums/showth...4733#post44733 ========================= Okay, based on some conversations Rami and I have had we are wondering if maybe we should look at/address pick swap deals. Here is the scenario in question: http://www.predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7007 Thus, the Pitbulls have the option to use either the Gunslingers or Snow Goons 5th rd pick in 2006, while the Gunslingers get Favre and whichever pick the Pitbulls decide not to use. http://www.predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7018 The Buffalo Pitbulls send QB Matt Hasselbeck, and their 2006 5th rd option to swap picks with the Gunslingers to the Chagrin Falls D. M. K. M. Snow Goons in exchange for the Eco Warriors 2006 4th round pick (currently held by the Snow Goons). http://www.predsff.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7180 Skippy gets: Shaun Rogers 5th round from gunslingers option via the preds (note: gunslingers has the option of preds and his own 5th round pick - this is the worse of the two picks) Editor's Note:- this is not correct at least as I follow it. Rami gets: Reggie Williams Aaron Schobel ========================= I made a trade with the Pitbulls that involved he and I swapping picks at his discretion in round 5 next year. He was using the Snow Goons pick in lieu of his own so right now he is choosing between the Gunslingers pick and the Snow Goons pick with the Gunslingers getting the leftover. This option was then sent to the Snow Goons who could essentially choose their own pick or the Gunslingers pick and the Gunslingers get the leftover. This option was then traded to Skippy who gets to pick the Gunslingers fifth rounder or the Snow Goons fifth rounder with the leftover pick going to the Gunslingers. That at least is how I read it (after spending about 30 minutes trying to piece it together). I am wondering if we want to limit trading these options since it can get fairly convuluted as to who has what options available to them. |
Re: Trades
how about after this season we vote to get rid of these option deals.
too much confusion |

I like the conditional picks, they give a LOT of flexibility in trades and often serve as the cushion to complete a deal. I'd rather not eliminate them. |
Re: Trades
I agree, I like the idea. However, maybe we need to devise a standard way of explaining what is being traded. Maybe something like:
The Pitbulls and Gunslingers have agreed to swop picks in round 5 of the 2006 rookie draft at the Pitbulls discretion. If this right was then traded to someone else: The Pitbulls option is being sent to the Snow Goons who will choose the Pitbulls pick or the Gunslingers pick and the Gunslingers get the leftover. The italics could be altered as needed but at least this helps keep it clear who is entitled to what. |
Re: Trades
Freedom has a good recommendation.
