Just a headsup to newbies and vets alike. Like the Frenzy, SACD has a Hard Cap and Soft cap period.

During the Hard Cap period, the 20% cap hit and any roster penalties for cuts and whatnot count 100% against the current season (in this case the 2005 cap). The Hard Cap period runs from April 1 through October 31 each year.

On November 1st each year, what we call the Soft Cap period kicks in. During the soft cap period, cap hits and penalties are assessed with 50% counting against the current season (in this case 2005), and the remaining 50% against the next season (2006). The Soft Cap period runs from November 1 through March 31 each year.

So why am I telling you this?

It is not unusual for Frenzy teams (especially those that are out of it) to purge multi-year contracts on overpaid players before the November 1 deadline, and taking the cap hit against the current season, thus freeing up space the following season without penalty. It is not unheard of to even see overpaid studs get released. The 1st week of November often has some solid talent up for auction.

Look at your rosters and keep this in mind.
