Sam Istician is Back!

Sam's look at the Week 1 games:

Nittany Dodgers vs Urza’s Ragers
The Ragers hold the series lead at 5-3, and have a slight edge in scoring, averaging 105.7 points to 102.0 for the Dodgers in the series. The Ragers had a commanding 5-1 lead in the series before being swept by the Dodgers in 2004. Edge: Ragers.

<o =""></o>Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers vs Bay Area Bloodsucking Insects
This series is about as close as it gets, all knotted up at 4-4. The Insects won the first 3 games, followed by 3 straight victories by the Squirrel Chasers. The 2004 series was split. The Squirrel Chasers hold a lead in the scoring averaging 121.0 points to the Insects 114.8 in head to head games. Slight Edge: Squirrel Chasers

<o =""></o>Wonder Mutts vs Liquid Swords
The Liquid Swords dominate this series, leading 6-2. The Swords have outscored the Mutts 130.2 to 108.3 in the series. The Mutts did manage a split last year, scoring 128.3 and 128.6 in the two games. Edge: Swords.

<o =""></o>Parkwood Predators vs Philadelphia Freedom
This is the most lopsided series in the Frenzy. The Predators have won each meeting to date. The Predators average an amazing 133.8 points in the series to the Freedom’s 102.9. The Preds have not scored less than 140 points against the Freedom since 2002. The Freedom have yet to score 125 points against the Predators at any time. This is a bad combination.<st1:city w:st="on"><st1 =""> Las Vegas</st1></st1:city> has taken this game off the boards. Big Edge: Predators.

<o =""></o>Ypsilanti Undead vs Royal Hawaiian Opihi
The Royal Hawaiian Opihi are leading this series 6-2, and had won 4 straight against the Undead until the Undead pulled out the victory in week 13 last season. The Opihi average 132.3 points against the Undead while the Undead are averaging 118.4 against the Opihi. Edge: Opihi

Well done as usual Brian... as big an edge you give my Preds... luck is eventually gonna hit Matt in the face against me. It won't surprise me if it happens this year.

Have you seen my starting RBs yet? Might want to rethink that prediction, Sam! LOL... but I hope you're right!

Good stuff, Brian. BTW, we don't have cheesy baseball (read Pete Rose) rules prohibiting betting against yourself? I have a whole boatload on Mike's winning this one even with the 42 points I was getting as the underdog!!

I almost feel guilty for having done so well against Matt, one of the classiest guys in the league... I said ALMOST!

That's funny, I feel the same way about you. :box

Edited to add, except you're not classy. :box

Will Sam Istician include classiness scores in future predictions?

Honestly, I can't disagree with you there (based on my past behavior a few years back) :yikes

Though I have tried to improve my actions over the past year or so and have been winning and LOSING with much more class than previous years (at least I think I have). I'm actually having more fun too... which is what this is supposed to be all about... winning or losing each week isn't a big deal to me anymore, the competition and camraderie (sp?) are much more important.

Only if Sam can figure out how to calculate classiness with a spreadsheet.

It was more fun to beat you back then, but it is much easier to swallow losing to you now.

Hopefully the win will offset the depression from your big betting losses! Well done Matt, it's about time you notched a win on my Preds!

A win here and a lose in SAC'd. Hopefully that is not the start of another long losing streak.
