FYI - there is no bonus sale just yet, but it'll come. Also, both this scale and the bonus scale will likely be tinkered with some after the season once we have some historical salararies to work with.

I think we need to take the RFA scale off of the baonus doc, it has nothing to do with the rookie scale. That's pertaining to potential new tender levels for the RFA's.

For those looking at the Bonus Scale, what pertains to the rookies are the positional numbers undeneath that RFA section.

Re: Rookie Salary & Bonus Scale

I just left the RFA levels on there, since I have them on the same tab of the spredsheet I set up for myself for the Frenzy. I upped that by 15% as well, and since everytime I updated something, Mike asked for the next thing, I figured I'd just cut him off at the pass at this one.

That's all fine and everything, exept this time you're confusing some of the Frenzy newbs!

Matt (Freedom) and Frank (Flaxwless) are the only 2 yet to vote on this.

Re: Rookie Salary & Bonus Scale

I voted 'no' as I'd like to see the rookie WRs salaries jump up a bit to be at least that of QBs but ideally to be between QBs and WRs. The theory being that....

1) WRs are in higher demand b/c we start 3
2) WRs are more likely to make animpact sooner than QBs

These two are shown in full effect in Frenzy as the top WRs are gaining salaries between 1600-2000 (about 20% of the cap) and the highest paid QB tops out at 1600 (Peyton Manning). I know this is a different league, with different owners, and a different market but being as we start 3 WRs and have about teh hal fthe people being from FRenzy it will carry over.

Well, you got resondingly defeated in this vote... but all that being said, make some decent points that we can keep in mind after the season as we reanalyze the salaries for 2006 and beyond.

Re: Rookie Salary & Bonus Scale

I think it should be painfully obvious at this point that the rookie defensive salaries are way too high. We definitely need to tone those down, or tone up the offensive salaries in the off season.

Possibly. I think many of these FA defensive players are highly undervalued right now whereas many of the FA offensive players are highly overvalued.

I think if basing ANY rule tinkering on prices being paid this year will be a HUGE mistake. Let's wait and see what happens next year when we've all had a year to deal with them and see how they adjust next year, since I am fairly certain that not very many of these overpriced superstars will be signed for more than one year.

I guess it will probably take a season to see the true effect, but just looking at the rookie scale compared to what D players are going for, you can get solid players for the top rookie salaries. On O, you can't get squat for the salaries at the top of the scale.

As far as D players being undervalued, it may be like my longstanding contention that teams just don't pay enough for tight ends (case in point, Tony Gonzalez, who as a tight end but WR eligible posted the 10th most points had he been a WR, yet Darrell Jackson, who was the 11th highest scoring WR received a contract 687 cb more than Tony G's). I may be right, but if the market never changes to meet true value, where do you set salaries? Based on market forces, or based on true values?
