Pred's Fantasy Football Forums - Feeding Frenzy Week 3 Re-Cap

Tank D’Season here for our regularly scheduled therapy, I mean wrap-up. The NFL is starting to take shape as well as the Frenzy league. Teams are beginning to show patterns and indications of what to expect.

JTW is going to ride Donovan McNabb as long as they can with his 37.05 points this week (it took him until week 12 to score the 8 TD’s he has to date). William Green finally decided to tease the 100 yard rushing mark, but fell short. Eddie George pulled in 10.65 points mostly due to his rushing TD (otherwise he was 12 carries for 20 yards). Reggie Wayne is starting to turn some heads (generally the DB’s he’s going by) to a 29.90 point game. Terry Glenn had a nice TD catch. Donald Driver posted good numbers but lost a majority of the glory to his teammate. The Ragers were glad Jamal Lewis finally woke up (something about those Ohio teams) and posted 34.20 points this week. Fred Taylor also came out of his early season stuper and racked up 19.95 points himself, making a solid RB 1-2 punch. Roy Williams appears to be the only target Harrington is looking at, which gives him an amazing 30.05 points this week. Urza loved MNF with a massive 33.70 point outing by Rod Gardner. And surprisingly, David Acker (14.60) outscored Michael Vick (13.80), who I don’t think is really grasping the West Coast Offense very well. In fact, Drew Brees scored more than he did (22.05). Urza had three players (non-QB in 30 point scoring).

Prediction: If James plays, I give it to Waste to bring in their first victory. If he doesn’t play, hands down to Urza. (boy, was that a wishy-washy prediction)

** Actual: Jersey Toxic Waste 132.55 – Urza’s Ragers 155.80 (MNF Victory #1)

Wonder Mutts wishes Brett Favre played the Colts every week with his 39.10 points racked in. However, both of his RB’s were set for breakout games and neither performed (is there an injury with Dominic Davis?). T.O is still having a great year recording another TD (19.70 points). He’s gotta being kicking himself for having Chris Brown on his bench (yes, the match-up wasn’t as good on paper as the other two, but I think he’s making people believe). Bay Area B.I (sorry totally initials would have been BABI, which looked too much like BAMBI, so I didn’t want to post it) are wondering what is up with Steve McNair. The co-MVP from last year has been without a few WR, but he’s just not getting things going. Now, he’s being reviewed for a bruised sternum. Grossman did have a solid week on the bench. Alexander once more put up another 3 TD day (32.15 points). Portis was over 130 combined yards. Coles, Porter and Robinson continue to disappoint him. Janikowski and Oakland DT both scored in the double digits.

Prediction: Mutts continue winning streak.

** Actual: Wonder Mutts 102.50 – Bay Area Bloodsucking Insects 109.75 (MNF victory #2)

RHO is moving forward and making some waves (man, I gotta stop the bad puns). Bulger put forward one of his best performances this week (36.70 points). Warrick Dunn overcame pain this week for the team and posted another solid outing – though frustrating his owner slightly in not making the end zone (18.70 points). Holt is still drawing main concern from DB’s, yet was still hauled in a TD (15.50 points). And, I will admit (finally) Ashley Lelie stepped up to be a contender (15.80), while still slightly in the shadow of Rod Smith. Elam and Seattle pulled out some good points for the team. BDSC was happy Matt Hasselbeck finally posted some good numbers (24.55). Marshall Faulk is still dispelling the nay-sayers (this one included) and ran well (22.00) again. Tyrone Wheatley needed some sort of motivation and finally decided to kick it up a notch (21.50). Randy Moss pulled in two TD and went over the century mark for the first time (27.40). However, Chasers were let down by the other WR, K, TE & DT.

Prediction: comes down to Randy Moss waking up and posting his first 100 yard game of the year – Chasers move to 3-0

** Actual: Royal Hawaiian Opihi 140.90 – Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers 124.20

Philly Freedom had great hopes in going against Dodgers this week. However, Leftwich still hasn’t played up to expectations. Somehow, he seems to be pulling out wins in the NFL, but not helping his Fantasy owners. Worse than that, Brunell was on his bench for 31.15 points (a 15.30 point swing). That, and Freedom lost Duece McAllister – and Mr. Stecker played rather well in his stead. Chester Taylor, though splitting time in previous weeks, was given little opportunity this week. Isaac Bruce was the lone shining star (17.40), though Kaeding did score nearly 10 points as a kicker. Nittany Dodgers loved having Tiki Barber go against the Browns (heck, most teams do) for a whopping 28.65 points. Duce Staley had a decent game, while Tony G galloped back to his place at the top (20.60 points). Pittsburgh DT enjoyed played a sad Miami Offense. I won’t mention that so far my only correct prediction was that Patrick Ramsey would get zero points…

Prediction: Even with no QB, I gotta go with the Dodgers this week – sorry Freedom, you let me down the last two weeks (so are you going to prove me wrong again???)

** Actual: Philadelphia Freedom 72.75 – Nittany Dodgers 104.10

SBDC is contemplating giving Peyton Manning yet another bonus for his performance this weekend 44.95 points). Aaron Stecker came off the bench (and I believe the waiver wire) to rack up 25.10 points. Brian Westbrook suffered due to the loss of his FB, Jon Ritchie and posted just a moderate game. Darrell Jackson also posted just moderate numbers against a moderate SF DT. Crumpler, Mare and Miami DT all were less than spectacular letting the rest of the team down. Parkwood Predators got lucky.:nonono:

Prediction: Upset of the week: Even with James Jackson scoring nothing, I see the Derby Cars stepping up to the over-confident Predators and surprising them with team depth.

** Actual: Parkwood Predators 148.85 – Soap Box Derby Cars 128.30

Indiana Undead were pleased with the performance of their starting QB, Jake Plummer (27.60 points). Priest Holmes was a game-time decision and did not disappoint his team, however, was held without a TD for the first time this year (21.40). Thomas Jones once more dominated and are making believers out of the NFL (33.60 points). Marvin & Chad are both getting the best DB’s and double coverage, helping their teammates out, but not pulling in stellar numbers themselves – both did score in double digits, though. Liquid Swords are still in love with Daunte Culpepper, who threw for 38.20 points this week. Ahman Green was a huge let down, especially against a porous Colt DT. Kevin Jones went out injured, severely limiting his numbers as well. Joe Horn and Rod Smith posted good numbers, but not enough to make up for loss of production of their RBs. Denver DT & Josh Brown were also in double digits.

Prediction: I actually don’t see a change even if Priest plays, appears Swords move to 3-0 on the season.

** Actual score: Undead 139.30 (2<SUP>nd</SUP> week teasing 140 range) – Swords 123.85

All I gotta say so far in this season is if you want to be victorious, you better hope I pick your opponent to win for the week, since I went 1-5:Banghead . Ugh, going the wrong way. Who says you can’t be humble in this game. Off to do MY research and improve my season numbers for next week. Until then, keep combing the waiver wire.
