Spotted in the Field: RB Jason Wright, SF

Actually, I just had lunch at the table next to his at the student union here on Northwestern campus. He was having a meeting with another undergrad to discuss a school project. I would never have known, but as the meeting ended and they made idle chatter, the other person asked which team had drafted him. (That made my ears perk up.)

I wouldn't have pegged him for a football player to look at him; he seemed more slight than I would have expected, but he was wearing loose sweats, so it was hard to tell. He seemed to be taking his schoolwork very seriously; I know I would have an awfully hard time keeping my head in a book right now if I were him!

Cool. I think I mentioned this before, but one of my church members, Joseph Siofele, signed a FA rookie contract with the Bengals. He's a linebacker. Not sure if he'll come home after mini-camp, but I plan on pumping him for all the Bengals inside info that I can! If anyone has potential questions about any Bengals players, let me know!

I read that he is VERY bright. Reports out of Niners camp seem positive so far.

I too read that he was very intelligent... once of the things that attracted me. Cool sighting!

Jim any and all info on how Perry is doing taking the feature RB role.

When Joseph comes home from camp, I'll be sure to ask how his fellow "rook" Perry looked. If he stays in Cincy over the summer, I'll be sure to get his phone number and be in contact. I'm also curious on how Palmer & Washington are looking, since they're both on my Frenzy DS.

Any info regarding Warrick's role in the WR core would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim!

I can usually get my hands on plenty of Bengals information from my dad (family friends with the Tobin's...Duke and Bill).

Here's what I know thus far concerning the Bengals WRs (this was as of about 2 weeks ago): It looks like K.Washington will move to the #2 WR slot in Cincy this season with P.Warrick moving to the Z-slot. Warrick is expected to be in motion alot for the Bengals this season.

Wow. That must speak highly of Washington. I know he was coming off a neck injury in college, that's why he dropped in the draft. How's Palmer looking? I wonder if the Bengal offense will take a step back with Palmer.

I'm expecting Palmer to hold is own just fine... and that's not because I have him on my roster, either! I think the year of being "clipboard boy" did him a lot of good - both prep-wise and humility-wise. We'll see, though...

Well, my friend, Joseph, just got released from the Bengals' camp today. Hopefully his agent will help him land in another training camp... he had 3-4 teams interested in him before he signed with Cincy (SD, OAK, MIA to name a few). Will keep you posted.

NFL = "not for long"!

That must be rough. Here's hoping he finds a camp where he gets more of a chance to prove himself.

Re: Spotted in the Field: RB Jason Wright, SF

Had a chance to talk with Joseph yesterday after church... he said he was the last FA linebacker signed by the Bengals. They had 12 on their spring roster and only were keeping 6, so he got cut. However, he said he had no indication the cut was coming.

When I asked him about some of the fantasy players... here's what he said:

Chris Brown is injured right now, not seeing much action, but RUDY looks like a lock on the starting RB job & is primed for a good year.

The receiving corps is great... Warrick hasn't been practicing much. Washington's seeing a lot of action, but THE MAN is Chad Johnson. Joseph said he's going to have a monster year.

Even though he's no longer with the team, he thinks the Bengals will be the sleeper in their division.

Joseph's now waiting to see if his agent can land him a contract with the Raiders, who have expressed interest in him (not only as a LB, but as a long-snapper). I'll keep y'all updated...

That would be great is he lands in Oakland, then he could give us some info on the RB situation and give me updates on Jerry Porter!

Plus the Oakland LB Corps. consists of Napoleon Harris and a bunch of other bums.

Thanks, Frank, with your mention of a Northwestern alumnus, you've gotten this thread back on topic!
