Big Changes in Happy Valley

Happy Valley, Minnesota-The Nittany Dodger front office was a buzz of excitement when they learned they had snagged their first acquisition of the off season, when the Indiana Undead declined to match their offer sheet to Peerless Price.

"We’re tremendously excited about bring Price aboard. We feel with him aboard, regardless of what else we do this off season, we have improved our receiving corps from last season," said Nittany Dodger GM Brian Giel. The Dodger exec declined comment when asked if there was anything the Dodgers could have done that would have not improved their receiving corps from last year. "We expect good things from Peerless this season. While we don’t expect him to duplicate his 2002 numbers, we expect something more similar to that than he did in 2003."

In a related move, the Dodgers have declined to match the Toxic Waste’s offer to Edgerrin James. "The sweetness of bringing Price aboard is tempered by the bitterness of bidding a good friend a find adieu," said Brian Giel. "Edge is our second all time leading scorer, and all time leading rusher. Edge, as a player, has been a personal favorite player of mine since his rookie year. However, he has not yet proven to be able to remain healthy for a full season since his knee injury, and we could therefor not justify paying him a top 5 salary."

It is thought the Dodgers will use the cap space freed by Edge’s departure to pursue another free agent receiver, and possibly more.

"We have a lot of needs to address on this roster. We’re still in need of a starting quarterback, we need to add another receiver, at the minimum, and we have the second overall choice in the draft. Keeping Edge would have prevented us from achieving all those goals. By letting Edge move on, we now have 3 of the top 15 or so picks in the Rookie draft. We fully expect to get a couple impact players with those picks. We never believe in rebuilding, we are simply re-arming for next year."
