anyone willing to consider league expansion in 2005 or 2006?

I know I have at least 2 very good players that would love to get in a league like the Frenzy if we had openings. I think we have a great group of 12 right now, and hope we keep everybody, however, I think considering expansion in a year or 2 should be a consideration.

Does anyone have any feelings either way on possibly considering expansion to 14 or even 16 teams in 2005 or 2006?

We'd have to think up some expansion draft details and whatnot, but it could add to the spice and flavor of what is IMO one of the best free (well basically free) leagues on the net.

What say you all?

Should I just put these guys on a waiting list, or should we consider growing the league? Should we maybe talk about it for a season, then if we have unanimous agreement implement a plan for the following season (2006)?

League expansion IMO would have to be unanimous.

It would be something to consider. I want to be able to last at least a year without ownership changes before it would be put on the table though. I don't think it would be a bad thing to figure out how we'd do it ahead of time though.

I'll be pretty conservative here but I'm much more in favor of seeing this league stabilize than in seeing it grow. Respectfully submitted.

Yeah once we stabalize and have a fews years with the current, and hopefully final, rookie contract system.

Maybe in year or two.

But i'd be strongly opposed to this idea if the number of playoff teams does not increase.

I brought it up to put a seed out there, and for a change I am thinking longterm ;) as IMO nothing should happen till 2005 at the earliest or more likely 2006.

I agree with the stability issue, I'm hopeful we've finally hit a complete core of 12 active solid, and knowledgable guys instead of the 10 or 11 we've had in years past. I thik it's important in this league to have committted guys who can follow the league on a daily basis, so any replacements or expansion should always be carefully considered.

I don't even know myself if I'd like to see it change. Part of me loves the current divisions and the 12 team structure, but 16 teams and 4 divisions could be REAL interesting and increasingly difficult.

In any case, I thought it'd make some interesting discussion. If nothing else, I know at least 2 strong players who have been impressed with what they've seen and heard of the Frenzy and would love to be a part of it. One of em's another California boy (oh know!).

Can't imagine that there are any better IMO. With a core of original owners and talented and dedicated newcomers I think this league deserves some sort of write up on the FBG's site (since that where it all started).
As for expansion, I might be for it but frankly considering how poorly I have done I am not sure I really want to make it any tougher…
Anyhow, this linkis about 2 years old now but I figured we could reference it (for ideas as opinions may have changed):

I too think we should get one of our talented reporters to write something up about the Frenzy to post at FBG. Maybe there is someone out there willing to serve in the role of PR Director for the Frenzy?... I think what we've got going here could serve as a great model for other leagues around the country, and I'm sure interest would be high in learning about our rules, methods, etc. It would be nice to get some PR beyond FBGs as well... I know at least one owner here is a loyal member of the Fantasy Asylum. (Liquid Swords)

As for expansion, I'm not opposed to it in the future, but lets make sure we give our current core at least a few years for rivalries to develop further. Some of us, especially in the Central, have our best showings yet to come!

They didn't have any smilies with outlandish purple & red clothing, big chains, and low-riding vehicles... so I made do with what was available. :thumbsup
