Quick note. Unless I missed something. JK Dobbins should be on Freedom's roster.

He is listed in the Frenzy spread sheet as Freedom (1yr 873cb). I looked at the 2023 app and he is listed on Freedom as 2yrs 794. so should have transitioned to Freedom's 2024 roster.
It looks like he was inadvertently deleted from Freedom on the MFL site and should not been eligible to be bid on in the first place.

That is correct. My bad for starting the thread. This is why teams really need to compare their teams on roster app and MFL. I'll try to work on discrepancies between the two this week.

I fully agree on making this accurate and correct, but there should be a timeline/expiration or something for team owners to compare to make things accurate. Since I assumed I won Dobbins I quit bidding on other players.


Once again, I want things to be correct, so I am fine with this correction, but we should look into this further for the future.

FYI, I usually do a comparison from MFL site to roster app before we do declarations. to make sure the right people are on each team. Greatly appreciated these updates to help me tweak things.

It's always been an issue. I usually do a discrepancy check early on and report on my findings, but I haven't had the time this season. I always ask when I post the initial app but rarely do I get any responses. I'll work on it tonight.

I know you always ask Pat and are great at keeping things up, but it can't all be on you (and Dale), it also has to be on us for our own individual team(s).


Maybe we should all have to respond to a posting that we checked our teams for accuracy.

I usually try to do a compare MFL to S/S as well, but like all of us, times are busy...
I don't do a player by player check, but try to check total player count and salary.

I only caught this on due to Rick's post on the incorrect post to MFL.

Not a bad idea..maybe after rosters are rolled over, and MFL/App have been updated, you have so many days to note any discrepancies. If not pointed out, then it stands as is, and in this case, the player in question would have been legitimate UFA. I think 3 days is fair...

This forum shows a record of all activity. If an error occurs, we have the history to fall back on. Agreed that it is up to the owner to keep an eye on his team, but I don't think anyone should be punished by an error that is not caught in a few days.

Also, I thought I read somewhere that the S/S (app) is the roster of record. The MFL site is updated and matched to the s/s. So for this example, the s/s had Dobbins on Freedom, so as the roster of record, this was correct.

I review and compare my team to the s/s, but I don't spend much time at all reviewing the MFL site during the off-season - except the occasional glance and I would not have caught the Dobbins error had it not been for Rick's post regarding the error.

I review my team as well, but I don't review everyone else's team, nor do I check the spread sheet before I place a bid on every player. I use MFL to determine which players are free agents and then place a bid accordingly. This is why I think it makes sense for all of us to do a quick review of our own teams after the season roll over.

I just dont think a player under contract should be available due to an error. Mistakes will happen, it's part of the manual process. No way to get around that.

If a player is under contract as shown by the forum history and the s/s, it should not matter where else it shows him as available. If a player ends up on two teams (similar to what happened in SACd last year with Deablo), the forum history will tell a story regarding where he needs to be and a correction happens. I agree it kind of sucks, but things happen and we follow the trail to resolve the issue.

I also use the MFL site to find FAs, but I usually do a quick search in the s/s to verify FA status.

Now I do not verify players already out in the bidding process, so if someone else posts a player, then I could be in trouble and get caught winning a player under contract.

We have always said, the App and MFL are tools to help owners manage their team, but ultimate responsibility lies on the owner. When it does affect another teams ability to bid on players, as they believe they have won an unavailable player, then I think we need to address it. Granted, this does not happen often, so maybe just discussing it is all that's needed at this point.

It not only affects the a team who thought they won, but also teams that were bidding on the player. For instance, some owners (I'm sure I'm not the only one) may not bid on other players, letting them sell, in hopes of potentially winning this player.

However, we cannot take a player away from a team. What needs to happen is each and every team needs to take responsibility, monitor their team on both the app and MFL, and speak up when something is incorrect.

This is what happened to me as I would have continued to bid on Devin Singletary, if I had not won Dobbins. So not only did I lose out on Dobbins, but also Singletary.
