late (but still timely) off-season Rule discussion - Flexible Lineup Submission Times

While updating the rules last night I remembered that I had wanted to bring the following up this off-season.

I wanted to get some opinions on allowing more flexibility when submitting lineups. Right now the rules reguire us to submit lineups prior to the start of the 1st game on Sunday (with the exception of Thursday games)... what I would like to propose is the ability to change your lineup at any point in the weekend, with the understanding that once a game starts a players status as "starting" or "not starting" is frozen.

Basically, your lineup would still be "due" Sunday at the start of the 1st game, however, say you have a guy going Monday Night, and are unsure if he's going to play, but you also have his backup (or some other filler playing that night)... you would then be able to make a late substitution.

The same would apply to the Sunday Night game or even the 4pm games.

Basically any player can be subbed in or out as long as their game hasn't started, but once it has their status is locked.

It's kinda our own "gametime" decision.. maybe a way to get back at the Shanahan's of the world ;)!

Anyone have some opinions on this? I've used it in a couple MFL leagues and really prefer it over freezing the lineups at the start of the 1st gametime on Sundays.

This is fine by me. If the software can handle it, it makes sense to try and allow everyone the best shot possible.

There is no problem with the software regarding flexible lineups submissions.

In principle, I have no problem with it...

For practical purposes, it's not going to make much of a difference to me... being a pastor, I'm pretty much "locked out" of watching the Sunday games (except the night game), since they come on here in the islands around 8am, and I'm at church from about 7:30-noon, Hawaii time.

But I'm a big boy... I can handle it. ;)

I dont think I'd have a problem with it. Would you be locking lineups at the actual start of the game? Say 1:05 or 1:15 PM PST for afternoon games or are you just going to lock all afternoon games at 1:00 PM PST?

Sounds good to me.

For ease sake, from a timestamp standpoint I think it'd be easier to lock games on the half hour. So we'd have 1pm games, 4pm games, 8pm or 8:30pm Thursday or Sunday Games and 9pm Monday Night games.

That is my only request. I don't have a problem with flexible lineup submissions, but we need an on the hour (or half hour, as it may be) lock-in rule.

sounds good. I never brought this up because I wasn't sure if software could handle it.

SO I'm all for it

I have no problem with this proposal.
