2022 MFL Site

Hi guys. With the new date to get league discount, I need to create the new MFL site this weekend.

If you have any moves left to make that you are aware of, and can do that before the week is out, that would help me out immensely, as once new site is created, any moves from 2021 team will have to be duplicated by me on both sites.

thanks!

Hey Burt,
I have a couple of players that I will be renegotiating but need to wait until the last day of the 2021 season to avoid a penalty for going over the contract years. I can post the renegotiations early but will need to wait for them to go into effect.

Is that actually a legit move? You basically would be using the 24 hours compliance rule on the last day of the league year to renegotiate players to longer deals while skirting actually being in compliance with contract years. While it might be a technical loophole, I don't know if that's in line with the intent of the renegotiation rules.

Re: 2022 MFL Site

Renegotiation can happen anytime.
I am not sure what waiting until last day of season accomplishes? If you wait until contracts roll over, than player still has to have 2 years left in order to renegotiate their contract, without a trade. If contracts do not roll over, then you still have issue of too many years - so again, I am not sure what the idea is here?

I read it as by waiting until the last day of the season to renegotiate, he could give a player on the last day of his 2 year contract an extension to say 5 years, even if it might push the team to exceed the max contract years, using the 24 hour loophole to be in compliance). For example, say the team is maxed out at 65 years, last day of the season they post renegotiation of a player on a 2 year deal to 5 years, putting them at 68 years overall, but since they have 24 hours to be in compliance, with the year rolling over suddenly they just come into compliance with every rostered player dropping a year off their contract.

This would be leveraging a loophole that IMO is not the intent of how renegotiation should work. If it allowed, every team should wait to renegotiate to the last day of the season so they don't have to make roster room to clear contract years.

The same applies to the cap as well, renegotiating a player on the last day could put a team over the CB cap, but magically come in compliance at midnight.

I can't imagine that the renegotiation rule is intended to work this way.

The NFL does this kind of thing with their salary cap all the time. They extend contracts with voidable years, negotiate contracts to give higher signing bonus to manipulate the cap. Not saying I agree, just saying NFL does it too.

I don't view that in the same manner, NFL teams that apply voidable years are just pushing off the cap hit, eventually the piper gets paid.

In this case, the team bends the rules on the last day of the season to manipulate compliance and never actually pay the piper.

Re: 2022 MFL Site

OK, I see.
We keep each years rosters separate. So if you renegotiate a player on the 2021 Roster, yes you have 24 hours to get your 2021 roster in compliance, but you still have to keep the 2021 roster in compliance.
Rosters will roll over and 2022 is a new roster, and the salaries are increased and years decreased, and will be tracked accordingly.

Re: 2022 MFL Site

2021 roster still must be in compliance with salary cap and max years even after rollover so there's no need to wait

Re: 2022 MFL Site

Question posted earlier that went unanswered.

Quick question on renegotiations from the noob...

If I post my renegotiations for my 2021 2yr contracts on May6 at 6:00 PM and the renegotiation put my Contract Years over the cap. The Season roll over will fix the issue a few hours later. I wanted to confirm that this is allowed and will not cause any penalties.

So from the above conversation, this would still be a violation and a penalty would incur.

Site is created - updates have to made.
Here is the link:
https://www54.myfantasyleague.com/2022/home/17426#0

I adjusted the IR also, but if anyone makes any moves before the end of the year when IR rolls over, let me know, and I can adjust them back to IR if you need that to determine things.

Any issues with your team on 2022 site, let me know.

This renegotiation would apply to the 2021 season. At any point in a season, you cannot exceed contract years, salary cap, or roster limit. So if this puts you over any of those for the 2021 season, you would still have to get your 2021 roster in compliance. Failure to do so would result in a penalty. In this case it would likely be loss of renegotiation...not entirely clear on penalty in this case though.

Correct, there would not be any CB penalty, but the renegotiation would not be allowed and would just be rolled back

If you need help figuring out what would need to be done, shoot one of us a PM or Text

I think I am all caught up as of this morning...Pat's lineup change submitted.

Please check if I missed anything. Forgot about the Soft Cap starting on Nov 1st, so had to go back to cuts made on or after, so got those in also.

Taking my mom to the airport tomorrow, but everyone else has left the house, so should be able to keep up again.

Thanks all for your patience.

**Reynolds was won for 136 - and cap penalty cut - so Hard Cap hit was 27cb

**actually, multi year additional should be 31, and soft cap credit should be 43

****Soft cap credit should be 44 for 2022 and 43 for 2023. Yes, multi-year additional bonus is 31. Contract was 278. Total soft cap hit is 87 (56+31). As long as 43 transfers over for 2023, we should be good.
