FAILS 6-2 - 2022 Playoff Seeding Change Proposal
 

In line with my proposal in SACD, I propose the following rules change to Frenzy's playoff seeding:

The top 3 Seeds go to the 3 Division Winners and are seeded 1, 2 and 3 based on record. Seeds 1 and 2 get the bye. The 3rd seed hosts their choice of the 3 remaining Wild Card teams in the Wild Card round.

Seeds 4 and 5 go to the 2 non-division winners with the best remaining records.

6th seed going to the top remaining team with the most All Play wins.

Tie-Breakers as follows:

#1 H2H (only if all teams have played same number of games) i.e. skip H2H when 2 or more teams are from one division, and 1 or more are from another division since all teams haven't played the same number of common games.
#2 All-Play Record
#3 Overall Points Scored
#4 Offensive Points Scored
#5 Random.org dice roll

Wild Card Round
Game 1 - 3rd seed hosts their choice of seeds 4, 5 or 6 (decision must be made within 24 hours of the final seeding being posted or the lowest remaining seed will automatically be assigned)

Game 2 - highest remaining Wild Card seed hosts lowest remaining seed

Divisional Round
Game 3 - 1st seed hosts their choice of remaining 3 seeds (yes this means the 1 seed could choose the 2 seed if they prefer. The decision must be declared within 24 hours of the final wild card scores being posted or the lowest remaining seed will automatically be assigned)

Game 4 - highest remaining seed hosts lowest remaining seed

I like everything but the choose your opponent options, so I voted No as they are written.

I would say remove that phrasing so 1 and 2 have bye. 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5 in wild card round.

Maybe we look at seeding the wild card teams (4, 5, 6) differently? For example, keep qualifications as they are - 2 non-division winners with the best remaining records and top remaining team with the most All Play wins - and seed 4, 5 and 6 based on All Play wins or something.

I voted yes... then read the thread in SACD... and kinda like Pat's proposal about reseeding the wild card teams.

I agree with Pat's comments above regarding choosing your opponent.
I voted 'No', but would vote yes with a slight rewrite.

1 and 2 have bye. 3 vs 6, and 4 vs 5 in wild card round.

As far as seeding 4-6, I am open to the seeding - leaving it as written or changing it to what Pat is suggesting above. I think the main objective to this rule request is the bye weeks going to 1 and 2 as division winners.

I also voted “no” but will vote to change current rule with different alternative option.

Let's see if Mike is amenable to this change... and get a new poll up before everyone disappears from this site for a few months.
