IR rules change?
 

Any interest in changing our current IR 4 game minimum to a 3 game minimum to more closely match the NFL's updated IR rule? NFL teams are now putting many players on the short term IR, which is 3 games.



Reasoning is that if a (KEY) player on your team gets put on short term IR (3 games), by their NFL team, you are likely not going to put him on your IR if they will be able to play in that 4th game. I know this is a newer NFL rule and I think we should update our rule to match.


This will allow us to use the IR rule as intended, for all players and not just players that are out for a long/extended period of time.

Honestly I prefer the format Frenzy switched to this past year with no minimum weeks stay, and players only eligible to be placed on IR if DOUBTFUL or OUT on the COVID list.

I think its worked much better than any previous format we've used as it's much more flexible, and there really hasn't been abuse of players who were healthy staying on their longer than they should have, even though that's not illegal under the new format). I think that hasn't been abused as the flexibility to move injured players on or off each week fills those spots and keeps healthy players from being stashed.

So going into 2022 season SACD IR is 4 game minimum and Q (questionable) status players as well as D (doubtful), O (out) and IR are all acceptable.
Covid adjustment is still in rules.

We have had polls and votes but no changes carried.

Rick proposed the change in a poll, but only got 5 votes....can be put up for vote again anytime.

Has to be unanimous at this point though since the vote is after the start of the draft.

FWIW I'd be in favor of 3 weeks for IR as well

Looks like the NFL changed the rules again this year and bumped it back to 4 games.


I'd also vote for 3 games if it's decided that we want to change it.
