It's the "YEAR OF THE WR" in Opihiland... as the Royal Hawaiian Opihi select their 4th WR in the 2021 Frenzy Rookie Draft.
Welcome to the squad, D'Wayne "DEE" Eskridge!
"Who's he," you ask?
He's a small receiver (5'9") from an even smaller town (Bluffton, Indiana) who played ball at Western Michigan.
Oh yah... and he's wicked fast. Like 4.39 forty fast. He's a former state track champ as well.
But what separates him from others is his work ethic (former college coach said no one worked harder than Eskridge) and his willingness to block.
Boy can the kid block!
More than one writer commented that this attribute alone will make him a Seattle fan favorite!
With his speed, he often burns corners deep... but isn't afraid to go over the middle.
And did I mention he used to play both offense & defense AT THE SAME TIME at Western Michigan (he was a corner!)?!?
I think he'll benefit greatly from studying under both DK & Lockett... and should excel at YAC (something the Hawks have struggled mightily to get in the past).
He'll have to beat out 2020 draft pick Freddie Swain for the #3WR role in Seattle... but my money's on "Dee."
He impressed folks at the Senior Bowl this year.
Evidently he impressed the Seahawks enough to have them spend their first (of only 3 total) 2021 draft picks on Eskridge in the 2nd round.

Was hoping he would make it to 3.08....
He would have looked great lining up next to Metcalf in the Pirates offense.

I do have a plan B and only 6 possible picks to mess that up before I have to think up a plan C....
