Anyone interested in tackling the rookie bonuses for this year?

I can take a stab at it. I am writing a s/s to help calculate. Just need to do a little testing to be sure I got it right.

Quick assumption... The player's ranking is taken directly from the MFL Site's "Top Player" list, correct?

When do you need them?

Yes... go to our league webpage, and look at the TOP PLAYERS for last year's stats.

I already have a s/s mostly done. Should have the numbers by EOW next week. Probably sooner.

Any excuse to write a s/s - my wife thinks I'm nuts...

Great question. I believe just weeks 1-14... since that's our regular season.
But I checked the rules and there's nothing that clarifies it.

Burt says he's always calculated them via the entire regular NFL season.
So, I guess we go with that.

OK. I think I got these right. I wrote a s/s to somewhat automate the process. I ran a few tests on the s/s and the numbers looked good on the players I reviewed.
Next year the process should take about 15 minutes to get the bonuses all calculated..

The headers on the above post are not aligned correctly. Still learning how to format in this tool :-) However, the Player Name is Bold and the rookie bonus is in Red Bold

If there are any issues or if I got something wrong, let me know...

Dave, thanks for doing the legwork on this, however, your 2021 salaries are off. The 10% annual increase is only on the BASE salary, not the rookie bonus.

For example - Josh Allen base salary in 2020 was 232 x 10 % increase (23) for a sum-total of 255 + 200 rookie bonus for being the #1 QB overall as a 3rd rd pick, for a total 2021 salary of 455.

Another example - Calvin Ridley would be 610 x 10% increase (61) for a sum-total of 671 +450 for finishing as the #3 WR as a 1st rd pick, for a total 2021 salary of 1121.

It looks like you calculated this on a spreadsheet, thus it's a pretty easy fix, just change your formula to do the 10% increase on the base salary only and then add the bonus and it should all be correct.

S/S is updated with the fix for the total new salary. ((OldSalary*1.1) + Rookiebonus).

I thought I noticed that the rookie bonus was included last year. I guess I should have read the rules.

If needed, I can repost the list with the corrected salaries.

I can't speak for who is going to do this, but the salary total here is not taken into account when creating new MFL site - just the total bonus, and whether the salary maxing out before full bonus is applied. So my suggestion, just verify if any player maxes out before full salary is applied, and adjust those bonuses.

In recent drafts yeah! LOL Though in fairness I believe you've traded many of your 1sts away AND have been drafting late.

That said, you had a couple nice rookies a few years ago that maxed out due to stellar production that brought you a championship!

I watched the max salaries and didn't notice any player's maxing on salary. So should be good.
I assume everyone keeps tabs on thier own players, so any errors will be reported.

Creating new app and the 2021 values listed above are incorrect. Guessing it wasn't updated with proper calculation.

No. Per note above, it was indicated that it was unnecessary. I will update later today. I have the new numbers, so will be fairly easy... Will be after 4:30 (MT)

No rush. It's more for historical purposes here. I don't need it for the app updates...the bonus is all i need for app which is correct above.

Salaries should be corrected.
Note: I use 'roundup' in my formula - so depending on what you use, there might be rounding differences...
Let me know if you see any issues - discrepancies

If I can be trusted to get it right next year, my s/s is ready.
Should be a quick process.
A few copy/pastes, a couple of tweaks to some player names to match MLF, a few random verifications, and I'm there. #2ThumbsUp

just slight differences, we use round off, so if its .5 or higher it rounds, if its .4 or lower round down. so far roster app is correct.
