1.13 WR Michael Pittman Jr, IND

There were a few WRs that I liked at this spot in the draft...one will continue to slide...but I had to go with the one I feel is in the best position to make an impact early...and a bit of a :homer: pick

I hate myself!

I had this pick all queued up at 12 before letting my eagerness to always trade get in the way. I had a better writeup though, below is what should have been. I'm an idiot.

OMG he's not a Buffalo Bill, what are we doing? We're taking the best WR remaining on the board is what we're doing! We love his comparables "throughout the draft process, he has been compared to the likes of current NFL star receivers Michael Thomas, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Courtland Sutton and Kenny Golladay, and in the recent past, Vincent Jackson and Dwayne Bowe." https://www.colts.com/news/michael-p...football-focus

Plus, there is a #Bills connection, albeit an older one with his HC Frank Reich, and here's what Reich had to say about him:

"Size, speed, body-quickness, good feet, good route runner for a big man," is how Colts head coach Frank Reich described Pittman Jr.'s game to reporters after the draft. "A lot of times big guys win with size and strength, but I saw he is a good technician. I saw him running routes in college and winning on routes that we run in our offense so it was easy to translate. Short to intermediate routes that we like to throw to that type of receiver – big, strong receiver that we haven't been able to do as much of, but that we've done in our past. We just haven't had the right body type for that.

"So a lot of those showed up on tape," Reich continued. "But also the plays down the field. We all know one of the goals for us is to get our yards per attempt up higher where it needs to be. That takes everybody and I think he can help add to that as well."

You have no idea how much I regretted that trade from the moment I agreed. I should have backed out before posting the agreement on the board, but I felt I needed to honor my word.

He was almost gone at 1.09... I debated the whole day trying to decide which guy I wanted. I chose Jefferson only because I'm not sure about Pittman's QB situation. I don't fully trust Rivers and I believe he has at best has 1-2 years. LOVE this kid though! On the bright side he has worked with 5 different QB's at USC.

FWIW I would have taken Pittman over Jefferson, though I know I'm in a big minority on that.
