2018 Frenzy Schedule Runoff Vote

Options are discussed in the original 2018 Frenzy Schedule Vote.

Option 1 is eliminated.

3 choices remain, though there was a majority between the options for a 14 week season previously.

Option 1 (4 votes in original poll) - 14 games over a 14 week season (5 weeks won't involve byes and we won't have a double header), 6 playoff teams, playoffs weeks 15-17. Division games will be weeks 1, 2, 3, 5 (2 teams on bye), 13 and 14.

Option 2 (4 votes in the original poll) - 14 games over a 14 week season (5 weeks won't involve byes and we won't have a double header), 4 playoff teams (3 division winners and 1 wildcard), playoffs weeks 15-16. Division games will be weeks 1, 2, 3, 5 (2 teams on bye), 13 and 14.

Option 3 (3 votes in original poll) - 13 games over a 13 week season without a Double Header (4 weeks won't involve byes). Teams will play only 7 of the 8 non-division teams. 6 playoff teams, playoffs weeks 14-16. Division games will be weeks 1, 2, 3, 5 (2 teams on bye), 6 (2 teams on bye), and 13.

Option 3 would also be a 6 team playoff scenario.

I know, it's mentioned in the original post above but can't fit it and the information about only playing 7 of 8 non-division teams on the vote line.

Nevermind, I was able to add the info for option 3

Good job on getting your way Mike. You always hated the Double header.

:sorry: 10 other teams voted for options with no DH, so I must not be alone. You were the sole vote the DH option, which I listed as the 1st option in the original poll.

There was no option to keep the schedule we had last season. I wonder how that vote might have gone. The option with the double header was so bad no one wanted it, not even me. It was a protest vote.

That was option 1.

14 games over 13 weeks with a DH and playoffs weeks 14-16.

Same as last year. Only difference was the division games which only had weeks 1, 2, 3 and 13 without byes, meaning 2 of the 6 division games had to involve weeks with at least 2 teams on bye and the best option was to do those early in the season since weeks 9 and 11 have 6 teams on bye, week 10 has 4 teams on bye, and week 12 has 2 marquee teams (Rams & Chiefs) with a ton of players on bye (most of all the 2 team bye weeks). Best option to keep last years format was to have 5 of the 6 division games would occur in the first 6 weeks of the season. No avoiding those issues with a 13 week season.

I stand corrected and I apologize. I always have trouble with numbers. Somehow I thought this was an option where every team didn't play every other team.

Re: 2018 Frenzy Schedule Runoff Vote

Can I ask why we are so scared of bye weeks??? I get that they affect teams differently every season and that is why we have benches...we can't control the NFL schedule, but we can integrate our teams better if we had a foundational schedule then compare it to the NFL schedule/bye weeks. Most of us already do this in some capacity or another. I get that we won't have our full strength roster for some divisional games, but that already happens vs out of division games...rock on and let it ride man...it helps soften that blow by having 6 slots available for playoffs...AND spot 6 set up the way it is...it would take the heat off of future schedule builders because they would just plug in team names to a schedule already built....think about it...

Re: 2018 Frenzy Schedule Runoff Vote

I can live with either of the first two options. Don’t miss nd a week 17 championship. Don’t want an unbalanced schedule. Before I cast my vote, still interested in how adamant folks are against a 4-team playoff. Willing to go with 6 teams if it means moving forward.

Re: 2018 Frenzy Schedule Runoff Vote

I Probably voted for the least popular option again. I like 6 playoff teams because it keeps more teams involved later in the season and I just have a distaste for week 17 championship. Also for consistency the week 17 championship could be like another bye week for some unfortunate team while we planned the season schedule around trying to minimize bye week impact.

While I don't like not playing all teams I dislike week 17 championships and like 6 team playoffs more. Just my:2cents:

Re: 2018 Frenzy Schedule Runoff Vote

Why the fear of a week 17 championship? It MAY affect 2 teams, who BTW, obviously had the goods to get that far and the wherewithal to survive should a player or players on their team sit. Ironically the 2 teams who hate week 17 championships the most, made the championship week 17 two years ago, and the better team still won (sorry Burt). Funny how that season, virtually every team was in the playoff race late in the season and the fun extended the entire NFL regular season.

Meanwhile, sure, lets have multiple division games with 2, 4 or 6 teams on bye, that won't impact anyone right? Certainly not division standings or playoff implications right? I mean, so what if a team may lose key players against a division rival where that game carries more weight than non-division games when it comes to seeding (division winners are higher seeds) AND draft order (for both playoff and non-playoff teams).

I don't get you guys. To me a 17 week season is no big deal. I'm fine with 6 playoff teams to allow more teams in the hunt as late in the season as possible. I'm also fine with just 4 playoff teams.

But yeah, lets go with 13 games with bye weeks having more impact on division games and an unbalanced schedule where a non-division team is skipped this year so we can have your 6 playoff teams and no week 17 championship.

The schedule has to be flexible to deal with the unexpected NFL changes from year to year. So some seasons you may get the type of schedule you prefer, and others not. Why does it have to be such a big deal and vote after vote. I guess Burt's obstructional vote change pissed me off more than I thought.

This league isn't worth the frustration of the unwarranted distrust and arguing over stupid shit.

Cards place 6 playoff spots above DH, week 17 games, balanced/unbalanced schedule, and bye week concerns....it is funny that these last 2 seasons I never realized how much I cared about how the 6th spot is decided...about week 10 I start looking at where my potential seeding could be and what my last few games looked like - what moves I could make to improve my chances...then I realize I MAYBE have a savior in a 6 seed...my heart races as I count off other seeds and see I still got a shot at the 6!!! Now imagine possibly losing all that excitement with only 4 teams, i or other teams clean house or mow the grass or do laundry instead of search for that deep player about to click on his team to help our team get back in the race....

The order of the poll changed and I think I placed for wrong one.

Also instead of not playing one non-div opponent as option, did anyone consider only playing division foe once based on previous year record? 1v4 and 2v3 only play once. Just a thought even if late.

Where did you want your vote?

The order changed because there is 1 less option and option 3 garnerd the fewest votes previously.

As for playing 1 fewer Div game vs 1 less non-division game... personally I'd hate that more than anything else presented to date.

Re: 2018 Frenzy Schedule Runoff Vote

Chuck, that is a GREAT explanation of the excitement generated by the #6 seed!!!

This is still a competitive "FOR FUN" league and we all want to have fun... the #6 helps keep that alive for most of us through out the season. We continue to engage and keep track of things because of it.

Keeping the #6 is my priority as well... I can deal with/without all the other things.

"So your saying there's a chance"

Week 17 Championship will always be a problem for me. We might as well use an preseason game for the final with all the coachspeak and resting studs and avoiding injuries that goes on in NFL.

While that is true some in the NFL Emerald, they did reduce sitting considerably by having week 17 be a divisional week.

Agreed.

Week 17 affects 2 teams.... 2 GOOD teams that just so happened to make it to the championship. Often, one of the highest scoring weeks of the season for fantasy football is WEEK 17. Yes some teams sit players, but the vast majority play, and some great performances happen week 17. I don't get the fear of week 1 championship games. It's least least impactful option for the vast the majority of the league, and the best poison to choose of all the options IMO.

Now just Freedom and Scorpions left to vote.
