Unfortunately you missed the 24 hour period to declare years and he defaults to 1 year. He sold at midnight on 11/24. Years had to be declared by midnight 11/25. You're over 14 hours late.

The league has deadlines. Not trying to be a prick.

I'd suggest you just cut him, take the 20cb hit, and rebid on him in 24 hours for 100 and then make sure you assign the years you want once he sells. It's unlikely anyone is going to bid against you, but we can't just ignore the rules.

Mike, if it makes you feel any better, every team in the league makes similar errors at one point or another. Heck, I'm one of the original founding members and know the rules as well if not better than anyone in the league since I had a huge rule in the developing the rules over the years. Yet, even I made a stupid mistake earlier in the year when I forgot we had a max on QB/RB/WRs on the active roster and it cost me a WR I had picked up (it's 13 BTW). In my case I was assessed a penalty that prevented me from rebidding on the player in question for 30 days at a time he was doing really well and I had given him a multi deal for cheap. He ended up reselling for 6 times what I had won him for. It happens to everyone in the league at some point or another.

It's a complex league and as such, we're all willing to help each other, however, we all also live under the construct that each team is responsible for ensuring they stay within the rules, and if we stray, we take the discipline outlined in the rules and learn from it.

Fortunately in this case it really should be minimal impact for you, the cb hit to cut Gordon is minor, and it's unlikely anyone will decide to jump in on the bidding. I know I have no plans to. Just resign him once he's available to be bid on again in 24 hours after your cut and give him the years you want once you win him.

In the end it was a 10cb mistake, since only 50% of the cbs for the cut count against the 2016 cap. With 2015 almost over the other 10 is no biggie.
