Question about the Developmental Squad
 

I tried looking in the rules but I dont think they've been updated. Now how did we decide to handle contract years on the DS? For example say I just drafted Willis Maghee and assign him 3 years and place him on my DS. Next year comes around, does his salary increase? Does his contract now have 2 years left? I cant remember how we ruled this. Was the salary and contract frozen until he is placed on the active roster? How does this affect players drafted before this rule took affect?



6B. Development Squad

Each team will be allowed a 3 player development squad for players with 0-3 years of NFL experience (Players entering their 4th NFL season are NOT eligible for the DS) . For the 2002 season, the development squad will have a 2000cb development squad cap with 10 contract years available (max 5/player). In 2003, the Development Squad will increase to 4 players, 2750cb's, and 12 contract years. In 2004, the Development Squad will increase to its final size of 5 players, 14 contract years, and 3500cb's. Development squad cyberbuck and contract year caps will not count against a teams regular cap unless a player is activated to the active roster.

There is no salary cap, and player's salaries do not increase while on the DS. Contract years do tick down from year to year, though. There is a cap of 20 years available to be asssigned to a max of 5 DS players.
