SOLD... to the OPIHI.
The Preds have 72 seconds to announce they'll not be matching...
Wait... I mean 72 hours to make their decision.

Re: RB Marshawn Lynch, SEA - *** SOLD *** to Opihi (2550), pending Preds decision

The Predators will DECLINE and bid adieu to Mr. Lynch

Let's run down why we came to this decision:

#1 reason - Marshawn's long history of off-field incidents and quirkiness:
  • Blew through his first signing bonus playing Skee-Ball (this is just quirky funny)
  • Misdemeanor gun charge after being pulled over in a vehicle with no plates and deeply tinted windows (dumb)
  • Hit-and-run incident that involved a female pedestrian that Lynch hit and drove away from in the downtown Buffalo bar district (this was an ugly incident he plead off on but truly showed bad character on his behalf. (Ugly)
  • Well known to treat service workers in Buffalo with disrespect and arrogance, often cheap with tips and orders. Known to often bring his own liquor to bars, which isn't legal in NY. (sad)
  • Suspended for 3 games at start of the 2009 season for off-field issues (concerning)
  • Arrested for suspicion of DUI in 2012 (plead off on this charge too, we have no tolerance for DUI)
  • Eats too many sweets (Skittles addiction has to be concerning)
In all seriousness, we wish Marshawn the best of luck with our rivals the Opihi and hope their fearless leader, Pastor Jim, can assist in rehabilitating an individual who while a great football player, we feel in many ways is bit of a lost soul who could benefit from Pastor Jim's guidance.

No mention of how retaining Lynch would bust your cap. Of course we all knew that and Jim bailed you out.

Re: RB Marshawn Lynch, SEA - *** SOLD *** to Opihi (2550), pending Preds decision

I really was thrown off when Jim bid on Lynch just hours before the end of the RFA period. He didn't bail me out. At that point I wanted Lynch to sell at tender. Had that happened, he would have been on my roster for the season.

I had options that weren't very painful to make space for a K and D.

That said, since Jim bid him to a point where I had to make a cut now, I was fine with letting him go and taking the 2nd round comp and replacing Lynch's cap dollars with a top tier WR (whether it be AJ or a UFA). There will be some good UFA values, there always are, so either scenario was fine by me.

As it stands, with AJ joining my WR's, I now have by far the Frenzy's deepest WR core (4 of the top 12 from 2013 and Emmanuel Sanders at WR5 now catching the rock from Peyton in Denver). I value receivers much higher than RB's, and my cap and team composition reflects that.

I'm happy with what the Preds will be fielding for 2014 to defend our title. Aside from the Frenzy's best WR core, we also have a top 5 QB (Stafford), a top tier TE (Witten), a young top 5 RB1 (Lacy) and some vets with gas still in the tank with Gore (11th in 2013) and Freddy Jackson (12th) to back him up. We also have RB depth with Shane Vereen as a Wild Card and Joique Bell available off the PS should injuries or poor production require further RB depth.

The Preds will not be an easy W in 2014 unless we get decimated by injuries.

Beware, we're prepared to repeat!

Since my sole purpose in fantasy football life is to bail out Mike... I'd have to say, yah... today was a good day.

Didn't mean to imply you bid on Lynch solely to bail out Mike. It just worked out that way. You had a need for a good RB and got one.

LOL

It's 1 game. We'll see how the season plays out though it sure looks nice for you tonight. :D

Ultimately it was also a cap space issue. Couldn't afford Lynch and Marshall.

LOL

It's not rocket science! I would have kept him and NOT cut him had he sold at tender though. I just would have made different minor moves to clear space to fill-in my roster.

Don't think I "bailed him
Out." I think I made a calculated bid, knowing he was going to have to make a difficult decision. It was kinda done on purpose. ;)

When asked if the OPIHI management are pleased with the effort Mr. Lynch put forth this year as a member of the team... considering it was a key component to their championship run, Jim simply responded with: "Yeah."

(And come to my foundation dinner on the 14th!)

Lynch wasn't needed for the Preds and we would have won the title again this year without him had we not been out of the country the 1st week of the playoffs and unable to update our default lineup. Nobody would have beat us weeks 15 and 16. But it is what it is. Congrats Jim... and Marshawn, meh, we were never a fan of the eccentric...
