New penalty for failure to submit lineups...

I would like to discuss, and then potentially put out vote to change the penalty for failure to submit a lineup.

1st time warning is good enough

But 2nd-nth times, giving the team a 20 point penalty just seems off...without valid lineup, they are most likely losing, so what does losing an additional 20 points do?

I would vote to have some kind of rookie draft pick penalty. Either to lose a spot in a round, depending on how many time you have neglected to submit valid lineup. Even if you submit a lineup, but submit one with several players on bye or injured. We have seen both this year.

I would say 2nd offense, lose one spot in rookie draft 1st round. So you have 1.1 pick, you drop to 1.2, and 1.2 moves to 1.1. 3rd offense, two slots. 4th offense, 3 slots. ETC.

Thoughts?

Totally missed seeing this post when you first put it up.
Interesting thought.

Initially, to me, it sounds kinda harsh.
What often happens when teams miss lineups consistently, is that they get replaced.
Then the new owner gets penalized for what the former owner was doing.

I've failed to submit a lineup... occasionally...
I think I'd vote for at least two times a season before the draft sliding rule kicks in.
First time would be a warning.
Second time a cap hit & warning of draft pick slide.
Third time could be a cap hit AND a draft pick slide.
Then if the team is turned over to a new owner at any time before the draft, the draft pick slides get removed.

agreed..good points..

I guess my biggest point is, subtracting point from an already sub-par lineup is really not penalizing the team. might be a good alternative to the Toilet Bowl..maybe make things more harsh as end of season happens, and team not setting lineup would benefit in draft order by tanking and not setting a valid lineup...not really sure how this can be accomplished.

For sure, we need to eliminate the points taken away

and I completely agree that no penalties, other than cut penalties, should be carried over to a new owner

I would say separate the penalties, if same owner then they apply to next draft, if we replace the owner, then back out of any draft penalties, cap penalties, no point in having a new owner start out in the hole due to previous owner.
