Week 3 Scoring dispute Scorpions/Burners
 

I'm not sure how to go about this but here goes:

I lost last week to Scorpions 99.05 to 98.45 (by .6 points!!!).

As is my usual routine when I lose by such a close margin I scour the MFL stat correction listing in hopes of finding a mistake that will change the outcome and FINALLY I have come across one.

My starting Def (Miami) has been credited with a 2nd sack. Sacks are worth 1 point. This additional point would give me a new total of 99.45 and would give me the win by .4 points.

Here is the Frenzy rule quote concerning discrepencies:


13D. Disputes

Owners should notify the commissioner of any scoring errors immediately upon the error being discovered. The commissioner will resolve any disputes in scoring. Any discrepancies which are not drawn to the commissioner's attention by the following weekend will stand as is.

Today is Thursday so I am ahead of the time limitation.

I'm not sure how Frenzy is setup on MFL, but when I ran my local league, there was and option to have all score changes update automatically on Thursday each week.

I lost by .55 week 2, so I scoured too but no luck.

I just logged into Frenzy's site as Commish. John is correct about the stat change.

Jim, if you go to the "For Commisioners Tab", scroll down to "Statistics Changes" and click on week "3". At the bottom of that page there is a button to "Apply Stat Changes"

Also at the top, there is a small check box that says

with a "Save Settings" button. Click the check box and save to have these updates automatically run every Thursday (IMO this should be standard procedure).

well, i went in and recalced by hand all the scores for each player counted for the week. by clicking on the player and seeing what score they got for week 3.
i checked them twice, and came up with 99.05 - 98.45, so i dont see where you find the extra point.
points for each player are as follows
rodgers 17.9
morris 18.05
Murray 17.5
boldin 6.8
manningham 8.1
white 8.0
Daniels 10.10
Akers 7
Def 5
I can give mine too, mine came up to same score of 99.05

I could have hit the button to apply the stat changes but figured Jim should see this first and decide if he wants it automatic from here on out or if he wants to do it manually.

That's why I left him instructions above on how to find the changes and make the changes.

well, if we do it for this week, then we need to apply it for all weeks, there are some other .5 games week 2 preds vs freedom I havent checked if any stats might chage that outcome. i see a couple of other games within a few points, so if we adjsut for week 3, then it should be for all weeks

It should be for week 3 and all weeks going forward, but the rules are clear that the first 2 weeks games are final.

So we only make a change if someone digs deep, seems we need to Just have a policy, to apply all scoring changes on a certain day of the week, moving forward then.

well, I think when the rules were written there was only one thursday game, seems to me , rule should read as soon as the next week games have started its too late. technically were in week 4 now.

so then does this mean saturday, or friday, or sunday pretty vague, and you could argue up to the start of sunday games. I think this needs to be calrified, and should read Any discrepancies which are not drawn to the commissioner's attention by the start of the following week games, will stand as is. For example, if descrepancy is foudn in week three, it would have to be pointed out before any week 4 game has started.

the rule as written, you can argue either way on this. is it the intent of the rule when written to mean start of the next weeks games, or actuallyt he weekend, and is that sat or sunday. thats all i will say on this, up to the comish now.

Heading off to the airport in 5 minutes to start our vacation.
I got a PM from John alerting me to the scoring change.
I'm a "spirit of the law" as opposed to a "letter of the law" kind of guy.
The letter says "weekend."
The spirit is the start of the next games.
HOWEVER... I think everything gets screwed up with the new Thursday night weekly matchups.
I hate to be all "replacement ref"... but I think I'm going to allow the change in score to take place, even though the Thursday game had already started when I got the PM. The general feeling is that one has until the following weekend to scour the changes & alert the commish.

I will update the scoring on the website.

I have also checked the RUN UPDATES EVERY THURSDAY MORNING AT 10AM.

Interesting..never knew that rule existed. I did not think we had to check scores every week to make sure they were right. I think if the site is broke, then we should fix it. And this seems to me like something was broke, and Jim fixed it. Seems fair to me. I better go make sure SAC'd is set up the same way.

you might want to, the thing I noticed is that it is mostly defense and special teams that have adjustments

Yeah, in my other MFL leagues the scoring is "confirmed" on Thursday morning. I have been on the wrong end of this stat correction before. I see it more in IDP leagues than others as most of the noticeable stat corrections happen on defense compared to offense (ie changes from 0.5 sack to full sack or changing who actually forced or recovered a fumble).
