Frenzy Schedule Errors?

Maybe things have changed, but when I was last in the league we tried to keep all division and the double header game on non-bye weeks.

The current schedule on MFL doesn't seem to reflect that. At least for my squad as I'm playing outside the division weeks 2 & 3 which are non-bye weeks and the double header is week 7 when 6, YES SIX teams, are on bye.

Who sets the schedules these days?

Good question. I definitely don't.
Burt? What's your recollection of how we do our scheduling?

I'll take a look tomorrow...I think I may need to do same thing in SAC'd....it could be a result of the realignment...I might need to just submit a new schedule and adjust accordingly...

When is the doubleheader week supposed to be?

Re: Frenzy Schedule Errors?

In SACD the double header the past couple of years was the week after the bye weeks were completed.

That's how it used to be in Frenzy as well.

Re: Frenzy Schedule Errors?

OK..looking at SAC'd, I have doubleheader on Week 12 which is the first non-bye week after all byes. I had to manually adjust that. I have done the same in Frenzy. There is no option that accounts for byes, so in order to achieve what Mike recollects, the schedule would have to be completely set manually. Does anyone remember ever doing that? We don't do it in SAC'd, and if I am the schedule maker in Frenzy, I have no recollection of doing it manually there before.

This is the option we use:
13 - Week regular season - Play all 3 teams in your division two times and all 8 teams outside your division exactly once with one doubleheader week.

Double header week has been swapped...week 7 moved to week 12 and vice versa.

Actually, I guess I could swap weeks where we play inter-division, to weeks 2 and 3, if everyone wants to do this. Like I said, I do not recall ever doing this in SAC'd, and not sure if I have been setting the schedule up in Frenzy, but do not recall doing it there ever either

I always used to generate a random schedule, then switched weeks around to account for division games weeks 1-3 and 11-13 (depending on when byes started and ended).

This season there are only 5 non bye weeks in weeks 1-13, however week 4 only has 2 teams on bye (Indy & Pittsburgh), thus what I would suggest is to setup div games weeks 1-4 and 12-13 with the double header week 12.

Since we have to have at least one division game involve byes, I'd try to match teams as much as possible that either have no Indy/Pitt players or each have key players from either team on bye, and then build the rest of the division schedule around the week 4 game (i.e. whomever you play week 4 you play week 1, then div team B weeks 2 and 12 and division team C weeks 3 and 13.

When I was last in the league the only way we did the schedule was to put division games in non-bye weeks whenever possible and the double header always in a non-bye week. It's actually listed in the rules as well.

11A. Regular Season
The regular season will run for fourteen (14) games, during the first thirteen weeks of the NFL season, with one week being a double=header week. The double-header week will have only one divisional game matchup. AND it must be after all NFL bye-weeks have finished.

Each team will play the teams in their respective divisions twice (preferably on weeks when the NFL has no teams on BYE) and all other teams once.

Re: Frenzy Schedule Errors?

I have no problem adjusting the division games to be on non-bye weeks. I don't have the time to go through everyones teams, trying to decide how to best matchup those who have more of less players of teams on byes. once you manually adjust one week, you most likely end up have to manually adjust mutliple weeks. If someone wants to check out current division matchups, and determine which week we should swap with week 4, so as not to give one team a greater advantage, the are welcome to try.

Personally, I am not sure how much this matters anymore, since we now have multiple wild card teams. Mike, when you last played in Frenzy, I am not sure you had double headers, and only had 1 WC team in playoffs. So would it make more sense to play your division rivals in non-bye weeks, as opposed to a WC rival ?

We had double headers, just 1 WC.

Regardless, I would still follow the way the rules were setup as much as possible.

Mosquitoes (wk 4 -Mendenhall & Sanders) & Predators (wk 4 -Wallace & Brown)
Freedom (wk 4 -Fleener) & Opihi (wk 4 -none)

Swords (wk4 -Roethlisburger, Brown, Collie & Wayne) & Derby Cars (wk 4 -Miller)
Bad Dogs
(wk 4 -Avery) & Chunks (wk 4 -none)

Scorpions (wk 4 -Luck & Dwyer) & Greatshepski (wk 4 -Pittsburgh Def)
Burners (wk 4 -Redman) & Llamas (wk 4 -none)

Then build weeks 2 and 12 with:
Mosquitoes & Opihi
Predators & Freedom

Swords & Chunks
Derby Car
& Bad Dogs

Scorpions & Llamas
Greatshepski & Burners

+ the week 12 Double Headers

And weeks 3 and 13 with:

Mosquitoes & Freedom
Predators & Opihi

Swords & Bad Dogs
Derby Car & Chunks

Scorpions & Burners
Greatshepski & Llamas

Weeks 4-11 can be whatever MFL randomly generates.

If someone wants to try to manually adjust the schedule, they are welcome to...I just do not have time this week to try to do that, but can easily switch weeks to make sure weeks 1-4 are with division rivals...

I'll take care of Frenzy's schedule.

Thanks Mike. One of the advantages of waking up in Hawaii. Much of the problem solving has already taken place! Thanks guys!!!

Re: Frenzy Schedule Errors?

Sorry, I just noticed this in SACD as well....

This week (4) we are playing division opponents on a bye week, but we are playing a non-division opponent in Week 12's double-header. Shouldn't we swap those two games? That would give us non-division opponent in Week 4 (which has byes) and a double-header against two division opponents in Week 12 (no byes).

I'm not sure which is worse, a Double Header of division games with no byes, or dealing with a single week of byes.

You have a bad week for the DH and it stings you even worse since you get 2 division losses, conversely of course, a good week equals 2 wins.

Honestly I'm fine with either or.

Re: Frenzy Schedule Errors?

Very true. Sucks how NFL spread out the bye weeks even further this year...plus the addition of Thursday games almost every week. Don't they have any concern for fantasy football? :)

Honestly I'm fine either way...

...even though I'm toast this week. What's the lowest single scoring week in Frenzy history? I may break that record in Week 4

Re: Frenzy Schedule Errors?

I hear you, I lose my 3 Pittsburgh WRs this week. Not having Wallace and Brown in my lineup, combined with Garcon's lingering foot injury will likely lead to a big loss for the Preds and a 1-3 start (and division record) . Just too much to overcome.

Looks like I'll be hoping to do damage outside the division to snag a wild card slot.

Since schedule is already set, maybe we just leave it as-is. If we have the same situation next season, maybe we put it up for a vote.
