Osweiller would have been an ideal PS player (Elway loves him and wants to groom him to replace Peyton). Unfortunately, he wont get a shot at the job for 4-5 years unless Manning's injury woes continue to linger.

He would have been a perfect pick at 4.1, but at 3.4 will likely langer on the TS for 3 years and then get cut because he won't have the starting gig just yet.

That said, Manning may not be the Manning of old, and if he struggles or the injuries linger, he may be out of Denver in 2 years.

I'm following a little insider advice with this pick as Manning still may not be able to hit the field this year. While I agree with you, Mike, Osweiler never would have made it to my 4th round pick. I'm gambling that he's the starter sooner than the 4 years you predict.

no way denver spends 18 mil this year on manning if there was even a 5% chance he wont play this year. i thought about taking him at 3.1, but i dont expect him to have starting job for maybe 4 years, so he ends up cut after 3, then i can pick him up later. would have been perfect pick in 4th round, then you can stash him away.
no worries, i'm not pissed, leaves me with an open slot for 4.1 and i have a guy in mind i can stash there now. and i will just bid on him in 4-5 years, lol
