1.11 TE Daniel Graham, New England
Anticipating that it would take a minor miracle for Graham to fall to the 2.2 spot, and projecting that the last truly attractive option would go with the 2.1 pick, Undead GM J. Morse pulled the trigger on the first trade of his tenure, moving up to snatch the Patriots' rookie TE.
"We plan to place Graham on our active roster this season, and therefore we thought he was worth next season's 2nd pick. We expect many of Tom Brady's rinky-dink passes to come Graham's way." "We have a need at TE and we were afraid we might actually consider Jerramy Whatsisname with 2.2. Frankly, we didn't want to face that situation." "Besides," Morse added, "3rd Round picks are fun. You can really be reckless with those." |
I was REAL close to taking Graham with this pick, so I doubt he would have fallen to 2.2 had the Undead not moved up.
In the end, I decided there are 3-4 other players with similar value, and the drop 3 slots will be worth the upgrade from a 3rd to 2nd next year. Plus, I see the Undead (my division rival) struggling in a rebuilding year, so maybe it'll be a high to mid 2nd LOL! |

On the other hand, Mama always said don't trade with division rivals. But hey, it's a game that's more fun if you have the names you want on that roster! |
