Dillon... Bid him up!

I aint matching... so bid him up and he's yours for the taking...

A gift from your friend Preds ;)

Urza's Ragers May 8th, 2003 02:14 PM

he is bluffing

Ypsilanti Undead May 8th, 2003 02:21 PM

No, I think he's sincere. He doesn't benefit any by bluffing.

Preds May 8th, 2003 02:25 PM

I am totally sincere... I won't officialy decline the match instantly (in an attempt to work a trade)... but I aint keeping him. Guarenteed.

It's always fun to see the Predators try to get the rest of the league to do his bidding! Come on everybody -- any takers?

Ooo! Ooo! *raises hand* I want to trade for Corey Dillon! I could have easily bid 2250 for him, but 2200 was my absolute top price for Corey. Now I can give something up for him instead. How about I match whatever David Patten sells for and send him to you for Dillon?

Oh, one more question. Is your upping of Ed McCaffrey by 5 cb hours before he is about to sell all part of your master plan to get the RFA period over this week? :p

Is that sarcasm I sense from you Bryan? I mean think for a sec... Dillon has been upped a bunch of times, what makes you so certain he sells at 2250 or 2300? He now has a definitive price, and if somebody who needs RB help wants him he can be had cheap. Why is that so bad?

As for Easy Ed... IMO there is strategy in the timing of upping bids... sometimes I want to control where the 48 hour clock falls, sometimes I want to see if anybody else keeps a player alive and wait to see if they bid, if not you have a good idea who the players are, sometimes I do it just to piss people off, and other times I do it because I figure if a player is gonna sell at x price, dammit I want him to sell to my team. Need I educate you more on the stragical aspects of bidding? :Banghead :smoke

Yes it was sarcasm, but I understand the idea. My point is that if someone who is theoretically interested in Dillon is not willing to up the bid from 2200 to 2250, why would they be willing to give up something in return for getting Dillon at 2200? The only one I could see getting something out of would be the high bidder for Dillon, because they obviously have interest in him at 2200. But if you go out and advertise that you are not going to match unless you get a trade offer, then they won't give you anything.

I think looking at my cap its fairly obvious I'm not gonna match, so why hide it. I wanted to encourage the bidding to hurt my opponents caps... seeing he went for 2200, a raise of nearly 500 from a year ago that task was somewhat accomplished, a;though I was hoping with the RB frenzy we've had he'd go even higher...

Speaking of RB salaries, WHY is Holmes still going cheaper than Dillon right now, that just doesn't seem right. He'll be fine IMO, even Vermeil said positive things yesterday about Priest being ready for mini-camp in June. If I had cap space I'd re-enter the bidding.

Hmmm, anybody wonder which team Mike is worried about this year? :D

Oh and btw, 2200 was also my absolute last bid on Dillon...
