My 14-year old daughter asked me the other day if I was excited about my upcoming birthday. She turned 14 on Thanksgiving. I told her not really. I'm not unexcited... heck, I'm 44, and have no issues with my age or growing old or whatever... but I said when you get to be as old as me, birthdays are just another day.

I'll get to play basketball today, which brings me joy. My wife made homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast (yum!), and a homemade angelfood cake for tonight (my all-time favorite). I'll get to watch my daughter play in her first JV soccer game tonight... and I live in Hawaii.

So it's going to be a great day.
