Burners end up Roadkill in trade with Derby Cars

Burners send WR Wes Welker(825/2) + TE Dallas Clark(792/2) +
Taxi Squad WR Jacquizz Rodgers(230/3) +
Burners 2012 natural 2nd

for

Derby Cars QB Aaron Rodgers(1524/2) + TE Kellen Winslow(425/3) +
WR Sidney Rice(121/1) +
Derby Cars 2012 natural 3rd.

I believe Derby cars will keep Jacquizz on their Taxi Squad.

Derby Cars to confirm...

I don't mean to be a party pooper here, but burners has 11 bucks in cap, and they send out less to derby cars then they receive, so this trade cant go through till cap space is made by burners. well actually I'm not sure how this works, i will have to look it up,maybe the trade goes through, and if cap is not created, then burners lose players, not sure

This one makes no sense for Burners..what ever points you gain by having Rogers over Shaub or Sanchez, you lose by playing Rice over Welker...unless you think Welker/Brady have blown their wad, and Rice is just warming up and can stay healthy, and that Jackson actually grew an arm...

Plus, you will have to make a cut to get under the cap....

Very bizarre, but hey, you're the one in first place in our division, so how can I doubt your mastermind visions!!

Each team has 24 hours to get under cap...no worries there...come on man...RTFRB!!

well, i meant i'm not sure what happens if they are not under the cap,
so the clock started when derby cars confirmed.

If a player in question which puts a team over any of the caps, was acquired via trade, the team over the cap should notify the league of the corrective action (release of particular player) during the 24 hour time limit the Rules Committee has to review the trade. If a team is over any of the caps after 24 hours of a trade confirmation, and corrective action has not been posted, the Rules Committee will veto the trade, send the players back to their original teams, AND impose the corresponding salary cap penalties. The players will not be released into free agency, but the offending team(s) salary cap will be punished.

Re: Burners end up Roadkill in trade with Derby Cars

I've got some options...let me present them in order of my preference and as you shoot them down move to the next tier. I'll present them as hypotheticals.
First let me explain my reasoning so you don't think I am loading Derby Cars with anything considered collusional. I presented the trade to him. He listed Aaron Rodgers as available and seeing Cam Newton on his Taxi Squad it made sense. I felt I really needed to upgrade at QB. My guys are ranked 16th and 19th and in a 12 team league that isn't acceptable, Admittedly they both had awful week 4 results but 4 weeks is a decent sample. To answer 1 question I felt better with ARodgers + SRice then MSchaub and WWelker. ARodgers avg 38 pts/game and SRice avg 15 pts/game (if you throw out 1st 2 weeks when he was "Out") = 53. MSchaub avg 22 pts/game (with Andre Johnson who is out 3 weeks +) and WWelker avg almost 29 pts./game = 51. I like a cheaper, healthy KWinslow better THIS YEAR more then Dallas Clark without Peyton. Jacquizz from Taxi to Taxi plus my 2012 2nd for his 2012 3rd gives him value that doesn't cost me cb's this year. Also the move of Jacquizz leads me to my 1st preference, rules permitting.

I start at 11cb's under cap with 3 years available. Rodgers,Winslow and Rice cost me 2070 and 5 years. Losing Welker and Clark saves me 1617 and 4 years so after trade I am 442 cb's over cap with 2 years under.

Hypothetical 1 - Am I allowed to demote MSanchez to Taxi (like Sam Bradford was demoted on Sept 28th by RManz)? If yes I would save 351cb's and 3 years leaving me 91 cb's over cap and 5 years to the good
on years cap. Sanchez is elgible this being his 3rd year, I have a slot open with Jacquizz traded away and Sanchez 3 year contract just fits under Taxi Squad limit (replacing Jacquizz 3 year deal). One additional cut would be needed.

Replies appreciated - my 24 hour clock ends at 6:34pm Friday, Oct 7th...

I'm going with my next choice - cutting MSchaub. Less complicated.

Maybe Burners doesn't believe in Welker longer term? It's unlikely he would find a better time to sell him, ever!

Checking in from the Philippines... I've just got a few moments of internet time... but you could have demoted Mark Sanchez - as long as you understand his salary would have increased by 25cbs for every week he'd been on the active roster. FYI.

John...sorry if you thought I was implying collusion here...that never even entered my mind...this is a fair trade, it was just a bit confusing to me...but your explanation makes sense...

And like Jim said, you can certainly demote Sanchez if he was drafted by you and he is not yet in his 4th year, but he takes a 25cb increase for each week he was active, so depending on how long you had him active, his salary may end up being larger than you care to take on for him.

I can figure out what that increase would be, but sounds like you would rather cut Shaub
