PLEASE READ: Rookie Draft Format

With the rookie draft just 2 days away, I thought now would be a good time to go over the format.

For starters, each team will have 24 hours to pick. If you need more time please send me an e-mail or PM before your pick expires or you will be skipped.

Since fewer people check-in on the weekend, we will give a 48 hour clock for all Friday, Saturday and Sunday Picks. Therefore, you should only have to check-in once at the most over the weekend.

When you make your selection, please list your pick number 1st, followed by Position Player Name, and NFL Team in the Subject bar.

For example, Jersey has the #1 pick, his thread subject should read:

1.1 RB William Green, Cleveland

Make any commentary (which is encouraged) in the message area of the thread.

Following the example above, the message commentary could read:

Pretty much everybodies consensus pick here and I NEED RB's!

Each team will be responsible for monitoring the draft THEMSELVES. We will not send out e-mail reminders telling you when you are up. The Draft order is listed in this thread: http://www.vbb.predatorsfootball.com...s=&threadid=17

If your time limit expires, the next team(s) in line is(are) free to make their selection(s) (with salaries set at their original draft position, not the one they moved up into). Teams that are skipped can step back in at any time, however the player they select will receive the salary for the slot they were originally slated to draft in.

Draft Picks CANNOT be waived. Remember, you can cut a rookie pick with no cap hit until August 15th, so there is no reason not to make a pick.

That should do it, please reply here if you have any questions.

Rumor

Any truth to the rumor that the Toxic Waste has already started negotiating a contract with William Green?

Preds April 29th, 2002 02:11 PM

According to our sources, there is an interest in William, however Jersey isn't sold on him and may head a different direction if he doesn't come down to earth with his contract demands.

QB maybe?

Rumor Mill

Welcome to the Rumor Mill. Could this be the start of the misinformation that our esteemed colleague from HI mentioned?

Royal Hawaiian Opihi April 29th, 2002 02:17 PM

Rumors? What rumors?

Ashley Lelie is WAY overrated. I can't believe anyone would consider drafting him in round one!? All us sharks know that rookie WRs don't produce. Why waste a spot?!

(How's that Philly?)

;)

Preds April 29th, 2002 02:21 PM

Well, for a while there I didn't think Lelie would make it past me at 1.5, however in recent days I can say I've set my targets elsewhere. I just don't think the guys worth a top 6 pick with all his hammy problems and the possibility of Shanahan leaving Denver in the next 2-3 years. You can have him Jim (you homer) ;)!

Pretty much

That was pretty much what I had in mind. :D

As tempting as it is to get in on the misinformation, I can't imagine comparing the prospects of the various converted QBs (who is about what will be left to choose from come my first pick at 2.10) to be too interesting. And I highly doubt I'd be able to sling much mud at Harrington to let him drop to a late second round pick. But, in case it is possible, I will share the following. Did you guys hear that Harrington arms might not be that strong? From the sounds of it, he doesn't seem deserving of anything more than maybe a real late second round pick.

Seriously though, anyone who Matt Millen is high on, and isn't a "fighter" really can't be that good.

The value of the mock

If you are going to grab one of the converted QB's could you take Crouch? Linus might actually be able to get one or two of his mock picks correct. Of course, I had Crouch going to the Dodgers in the third round but what is a round between friends.:toast:

Brain Dead Squirrel Chasers April 29th, 2002 05:28 PM

If Crouch falls to me in the 4th round, I'm all over him. (That didnt sound too good did it?)

Side note about Harrington: another reason not to draft him that high. He had to stay late during one of his practices just to work on his center exchange. Apparently he fumbled a few times during his first mini-camp. I say its time to cut that bum!
