Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
As this discussion is on going in Frenzy, I thought I would nip it in the bud, and start it here also...I'll just jump straight into creating a poll to decide yay or nay....
A yes vote is to add Suspended to qualifying status for IR A no vote would be to not include Suspended players and leave the rule as is |
Re: Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
I would like to hear others thoughts before I vote. When I first saw it on the Frenzy thread I didn't like it. However one poster made a good point about NFL teams don't count suspended players toward their 53 man roster.
I have another substance abuser on my team (DE Antwan Odom, CIN) so change could benefit me. With the NFL cracking down on player conduct we'll probably continue to see suspended players. |
Re: Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
I don't feel that the IR should be open to suspended players. It doesn't seem like that is the purpose for the list. The player isn't injured...he did something against team or league rules that got him to that point. If they aren't on the injury report, why should they go on the injured reserve?

Re: Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
Fair point Scott...but just like an injury is unexpected, so also is suspension for us unsuspecting FF owners...granted guys like PacMan Jones you take your chances..but Big Ben? Who could have known? This would just allow us to cover our team when a player is unavailable for several games....

Re: Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
Yeah, I can see it both ways...I'm not set on "my way is how it has to be." I guess I feel like injuries happen to the person where suspensions are brought on by the person. I understand that it puts FF owners in a tough spot like an injury, but it doesn't seem like comparing apples to apples.

IR = injured reserve
Suspended players aren't injured thus ineligible for IR, IMO. But I can see both points of view... |
Re: Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
This would also help me with VJax, but I agree that IR is for injured, not suspended players. I think the argument about suspended players not counting towards an NFL team's 53 man roster isn't a valid comparison because in essence, NFL teams always have more than 53 players available to them at any given time between their practice squad, guys who may or may not be hurt, etc. They only SUIT UP 53 guys on Sunday, but there are more available to them.

OK, this does not pass at this time...we need a unanimous vote to pass...

Re: Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
Well, technically IR in the NFL means your out for hte season.
BUt our rules allow you to place a guy who is Questionable, Doubtful or Out all theree conditions are players who can and most do return later inthe year in the NFL, as if they are done for hte year int he NFL, a team places them on IR, which frees up a roster spot, and removes them from play the rest of the year. |
Re: Should Suspended Players be allowed to be placed on a team IR ?
My opinoin is that you have a bigger risk in going after the more prone trouble makers in the league there fore when doing so the cost should be more. NO Suspended players should go on the IR. Big Ben was always a risk in my mind and I was fortunate enough to dump him. Although getting Pierre Thomas in the mix was also good for the MASH.

Isnt not having that player for their suspended games a handicap already.
