Expand Playoffs to 6 teams? - PASSES - 7 Yes / 1 No

Setup would be:
Regular Season
14 games in 13 NFL Weeks. One week double headers of non-divisional games. Would be mid-season, when players are at peak.

Playoffs - 3 division winners, 3 wildcards (Top 3 records - no division cap)
Week 14 - 6 teams, #1 and #2 get a bye week.
Week 15 - 4 teams
Week 16 - Championship game

We still get 14 games in and we still have the Week 16 Championship.

Simple yes or no.

Re: Expand Playoffs to 6 teams?

Mashers made a great point, the double header week should not be during a teams bye week...would suck to have your main guy out for 2 games at once...

It looks like the last Bye week is Week 10, so Week 11 would make most sense for the double header this year...

so I will amend the rule to state the double header will be first week after last bye week each year. I may have to adjust the schedule to make sure this week is a non-divisional game also...

if anyone has an issue with this and would like to change their vote, or offer alternative, let me know...

Aren't non-division game stypically held before and after bye weeks? Do we have an extra non-divisional, non-bye week to slot the double header?

I'd give priority to non-bye weeks to division games over non-divisional double headers.

Re: Expand Playoffs to 6 teams?

The way the schedule is currently, Division games are weeks 1-3 and 12-14..so week 10 is already a non-divisional week...so moving weeks 12-14 to weeks 11-13 still works...right?

It should.

OK - This has passed with a majority of 7 votes....I will amend the schedule to reflect the double header game. I will combine weeks 10 and 11 to one week 10 date, and move the remaining games up a week.

The rules will reflect this type of setup, in that the double header will be the first week after last bye week, and will consist of that weeks game, plus the next weeks game, and that each of the remaining games will move forward a week.

Wooooooooo! 6 team playoffs means should be fun come trade deadline. The bottom teams can really improve through trading by acquiring picks and young talent, while those on the cusp of playoffs can snag that stud to push them over the top! A win-win for everyone.

The 4 team set up made it so that there were less buyers than sellers, but in a 6 team playoff format there surely will be more buyers than sellers!

Congrats SACD on making this change this year. Hopefully, Frenzy will follow suit next year after they see the good it does for SACD.

OK guys..create a new schedule with a double header in week 11. It has us playing one divisional game and one non-divisional game. Does anyone object to this? I am not sure how to rearrange it easily, and really would rather not spend a ton of time trying to figure it out unless people feel strongly we should not have any divisional game in double header.

Still trying to figure out how to setup 6 team playoffs schedule....

Just noticed that the for the Bloodsuckers the double header is schedule for Week 10!! Next week when it should be for Week 11 when there are no NFL bye weeks.

Hopefully you can fix this in time Burt.

Yep I noticed this today as well. If I have to play two games, I'd like to Andre Johnson to help...just saying...

I noticed this but thought that it maybe had to do with the fact that only two teams were on bye (as opposed to those weeks with 4 or 6 teams). If it can be fixed that is fine by me otherwise maybe we need to make sure that we do the double header week in week 11 or 12 next year.

Damn...sorry guys...I thought I had it set correctly...I'll take a look at it tonight...

OK, I think I got it corrected...everyone check out their schedule and make sure it is right...we should all play each team in our division twice, and everyone else once.

I think there might be an issue here. I played the Wonder Mutts in Week 7 and my automated e-mail appears to be going to them again this week (Week 10). Since they are not in my division I don't think they should be my opponent this week. I may be missing something but wanted to let you know. Thanks!

Re: Expand Playoffs to 6 teams? - PASSES - 7 Yes / 1 No

I agree, something is weird. If you look at the schedule, in week 7, it shows that you (Gunslingers) played me not the Wonder Mutts. I don't think that actually happened.

OK, I am going to query the Help Desk...I may have rearranged some of the games played when I moved the double header...what a headache...

Is anyones actual record changed? It looked the same as before....

I am working with the Help Desk...they are looking at restoring the schedule from Monday nights backup....will let you all know....

Re: Expand Playoffs to 6 teams? - PASSES - 7 Yes / 1 No

So we are playing two games this week. I am fine with it. Playing two games w/o A Johnson and Schaub is not ideal, but it's not the end of the world and it was an honest mistake (I hope :) ).

Re: Expand Playoffs to 6 teams? - PASSES - 7 Yes / 1 No

I am still working with the help desk to get this resolved.

Latest update - they restored the old schedule this morning....so I tried just changing the double header from Week 10 to Week 11, and that messed up the previous games played again - some of you may like that, since a couple teams moved up in standings - but no good

So I have updated them to ask they reset it back to Tuesday morning again, and am seeking advice on moving the double header to week 11 while leaving games played already as they are....

I'll let you know when (if?) that is resolved

And yes, that was a mistake...I truly thought I set it to the first week without Byes...sorry....

Re: Expand Playoffs to 6 teams? - PASSES - 7 Yes / 1 No

On second look-see, the standings are reflecting the results from last nights game. Can everyone take a look, and see if anything from previous results looks out of whack, or if they are as you remember? Go ahead and report here.....

Re: Expand Playoffs to 6 teams? - PASSES - 7 Yes / 1 No

I think everything looks good for me. I am still 5-4 (5-5 because of last night's game) and it looks like I play all the division teams twice.

Matt sent me the scores from all weeks games, and they match up with current scores on website, so we should be good to go now...(crosses fingers)
