Floyds and Clowns once upon a blockbuster
 

A few years ago, this might have been a blockbuster, but now.....


Floyds gives Ladanian Tomlinson
Clowns gives Matt Hassleback, Jeremy Shockey, Duece McAllister and a conditional 2009 3rd.

Condition is based upon LT's RFA level. Clowns will put him out at a 1st round level...if no bids are made, than the 3rd becomes a 4th.

So this was basically a salary switch with Burt getting a third or fourth round pick. Seems like a good chance to take for the Clowns. Not sure how healthy LT will be but if he gets back to semi-LT shape than a third or fourth rounder is not bad especially since he can decline to match and get a second and third rounder (as long as someone bids on him).

Right you are...with the deal to get Jackson, I could afford to keep LT's salary..so rather than simply cut him, Bryan gets the chance to either get him at a reduced rate (nobody is going to take him over 6K again, right?), or let him go and get top comp points, which would get him into a better slot the his 3rd round pick. So to me, it's a win/win on both sides....the players coming to me were just to allow Clowns to also get under cap....

Exactly. I'd be happy to take the comp points, but if we have him on our roster for 3200, I'll be interested to see how he does next season. I doubt he'll still be with the Chargers and if he ended up some place like Denver, I'm guessing he'll be a tad motivated to show AJ Smith how big he screwed up.
